Guidance for Working in Classrooms

The building will be open on weekdays beginning July 16! If you want to come, the building will be open from 9-3pm. Please note, the alarm will be turned on at 3pm, so make sure you are out! There is no obligation to come in early. If you need every bit of the days you have left, that is perfectly fine! If you do come by, we are in the final days of prepping for the new school year and still have a lot to do. Please save your visiting with admin and office staff until we are officially back on the 24th. Thanks for understanding.

If you do come in early, please keep the following things in mind:

  1. Our custodians are still completing their summer work and are not available to you until the 21st. If you come in on the 16th-18th, you will need to be self-sufficient. This means taking out your own trash, getting a buddy to help you move furniture, or waiting until someone is available to help.
  2. Any requests for maintenance or furniture assistance should be emailed to Ned (Zahirovic@fultonschools.org). Please do not stop him in the halls or track him down to ask for help. He will have many requests for assistance and having them all emailed will help tremendously.

Guidelines for Classroom Set Up

  • Please do not drag any furniture across the floors. The summer crew has worked hard to ensure that the building looks amazing, and we want it to stay that way.
  • Please do not tape or glue anything to the walls. You may use push pins, or if you have any of the special tape that does not damage the walls, you can use that to put posters up. If you do not have any of the special tape, please wait until you get some to attach anything to the walls.
  • Do not use staples on the walls
  • When setting up students' desks or tables make sure there will be at least 2-3 inches of space between desk/tables and the walls to prevent wall damage (this year we had a lot of wall damage)

For Fire Code:

  • Do not piggyback or plug a power strip of any kind/type into another
  • Do not use extension cord with any appliance (coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator). Plug them directly into the wall sockets
  • Make sure there is 18 inches of space between the ceiling and the first item on the wall
  • Nothing is to be stored on the top of the shelves or tall cabinets
