Superintendent Report
Superintendent Corrigan shared the following updates with the Board:
Assessment:
Schools have completed the provincial mandated Early Learning Assessments in the areas of literacy and numeracy for K-3.
Division Assurance:
This year is the last year of our 4 year assurance cycle (2022-2026). The division is continuing with strategies to improve in all areas of strategic priorities as determined from last year's results. There will be some engagement opportunities for parents, students, and staff to identify areas of strength and improvement prior to creating the next assurance cycle for 2026-2030.
Labour Action Update:
The province passed Back to School Act on October 27th, 2025, ending the labour action. Classes resumed on October 29th, 2025. As students and staff settle in at school, the division will share instructional plans and adjustments to support student learning.
Enrolment Update:
The Board received the division's enrolment update as of September 30, 2025. Overall enrolment in brick-and-mortar schools is up by 196 students over projected numbers. Growth in Fort Saskatchewan is concentrated in the elementary and middle schools, while high schools are experiencing a slight decrease compared to last year. Enrolment in St. Isidore Learning Center's alternative programming is also growing.
Class Size Reports:
Class size reports were shared with trustees for review in core and non core subjects. The division class size average for core subjects and non core subjects is 24 students.
