Welcome, New Administrators!
Superintendent
The Camdenton R-III Board of Education is thrilled to announce that Dr. Brett Thompson will be stepping into the role of Superintendent for the 2025-2026 school year!
Dr. Thompson has dedicated the past 16 years as Principal of Camdenton High School, where he has helped guide our students and staff to countless successes. With a passion for education and a deep commitment to our community, the Board is excited to see him take on this new leadership role.
“I am incredibly humbled and honored by the opportunity to serve as the Superintendent of the Camdenton R-III School District," said Dr. Thompson. "I look forward to continuing to serve our students, staff, and community."
Assistant Superintendent of Personnel and Compliance
The Camdenton R-III School District is excited to announce the appointment of Todd Shockley as the next Assistant Superintendent of Personnel and Compliance. With 38 years of experience in public education—including 17 years as a building administrator in Camdenton R-III—Shockley brings a deep understanding of the district, its people, and its commitment to excellence.
After retiring from public education in June 2023, Shockley is eager to return to serve the district in this new leadership role.
“After a brief (yet energizing) two-year retirement, I feel blessed to return to the Camdenton R-III School District,” said Shockley. “I have a heart for people and know I still have much to offer by way of serving ALL stakeholders in this district. My goal is to help create an environment where students, staff, and faculty can flourish.”
As Assistant Superintendent of Personnel, Shockley will focus on hiring, staff development, and fostering a positive and supportive work culture. His leadership will play a vital role in ensuring the district attracts and retains quality educators while maintaining an environment where students and staff thrive.
“Public education is a noble endeavor,” Shockley added. “It has become more challenging over the last decade, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I envision a work and learning space in which teachers, support staff, and students alike look forward to coming to school each day—and where parents are excited and appreciative of the outstanding educational experiences afforded their students.”
Shockley and his wife, Daphne, have been married for 34 years and are proud parents of four grown children, all graduates of Camdenton R-III. His deep roots in the community and passion for education make him an outstanding choice for this role.
Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations
The Camdenton R-III School District is pleased to announce Dr. Keith White as the new Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations for the 2025-2026 school year.
Dr. White brings 27 years of experience in education, leadership, and district operations. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from William Woods University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science Education from Southwest Baptist University.
Most recently, Dr. White served as Superintendent of Diamond R-IV Schools in Diamond, Missouri, where he led the district through a period of growth and improvement. Under his leadership, student enrollment increased by over 15%, and the district made significant advancements in professional development, curriculum alignment, and instructional practices. He also played a key role in facility upgrades, overseeing a $2.4 million secure entrance and office renovation and a $6 million no-tax-increase bond-funded PK-1 Early Childhood Center.
Dr. White’s leadership philosophy centers on collaboration, visibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement. He looks forward to supporting Camdenton R-III’s mission of educational excellence while enhancing operational efficiencies across the district.
“I am honored to join the Camdenton R-III School District and excited to contribute to the success of Laker Nation,” said Dr. White. “I look forward to working with the administrative team and staff to ensure a strong future for our schools.”
Dr. White and his wife, Angela, have been married for 29 years and have three children: Colton, Conner, and Cicely. In his free time, he enjoys serving his church, spending time with family, fishing, hunting, and managing his family’s fifth-generation cattle farm.
High School Principal
The Camdenton R-III School District is pleased to announce that Dr. Tyler Knight has been named the next Principal of Camdenton High School, beginning with the 2025-26 school year.
Dr. Knight has dedicated his career to education and to the success of Camdenton students. He began as a teacher and coach in the Gainesville School District in 2010 before joining Camdenton in 2011, where he taught and served as a coach for six years. In 2017, he transitioned into administration as an Assistant Principal at Dogwood Elementary. He continued his leadership journey as an Assistant Principal at Camdenton Middle School in 2021 before becoming Associate Principal at Camdenton High School in 2022.
Dr. Knight and his wife, Kelsea, who also works in the district, are proud members of the Laker community. Their three children—Stella (8th grade), Quincy (5th grade), and Rawlings (2nd grade)—are all Camdenton students. The Knights enjoy supporting students in many ways, whether at school events, performances, or celebrations of student success.
“I am incredibly honored to serve as the next principal of Camdenton High School,” said Dr. Knight. “This school and community mean so much to my family, and I’m excited to continue working alongside our amazing students, staff, and families to build on the strong traditions of excellence at CHS.”
High School Assistant Principal
The Camdenton R-III School District is proud to announce that Daniel Eidson has been named an Assistant Principal at Camdenton High School. A 2006 graduate of Camdenton High School, Mr. Eidson brings a deep connection to the district and a strong passion for education and leadership.
After earning his bachelor’s degree from Westminster College in 2010, Mr. Eidson continued his education at William Woods University, where he obtained both a Master’s and Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. He has spent nearly 12 years in education, serving as an elementary teacher and PE coach, as well as a high school teacher and PE coach. In addition to his time in the classroom, he has dedicated the past 11 years to coaching football and basketball, including serving as the Head Boys Basketball Coach for the last three seasons.
Beyond his contributions to education, Mr. Eidson has served for 12 years in the Missouri Army National Guard, where he holds the rank of 1st Lieutenant with the 1141st Engineer Sapper Company.
Mr. Eidson and his wife, Megan, married in 2014 and have three children—Ellie (3rd grade), Asher (1st grade), and Anna (Preschool)—who will all be attending Camdenton Schools next year. The Eidson family attends Canopy Church in Linn Creek and are deeply involved in the community.
Reflecting on his new role, Mr. Eidson shared, “I am beyond honored to serve at this magnitude, in the district that myself and many of my family members have gone through. Thank you to Dr. Knight, the students that conducted an interview, the staff on the interview committee, and to Dr. Thompson for trusting me to help lead our students for many years to come. It will be absolutely bittersweet to step away from coaching basketball and football, but I am excited to get this next chapter of my life underway. I owe an unwavering amount of gratitude to my wife for always being by my side during long athletic seasons, and none of my aspirations of being in this position would be possible without her daily support! Lastly, my hiring as an Assistant Principal at Camdenton High School would not be possible without the many Camdenton teachers and staff who helped mold me into the servant leader I am today. For that, I am forever grateful and even more inspired to give back to this school district that has given me so much. GO LAKERS!”
High School Assistant Principal
The Camdenton R-III School District is proud to announce that Melissa Jackson has been named an Assistant Principal at Camdenton High School beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Mrs. Jackson’s career includes 21 years in the classroom and 12 years in leadership roles, serving as an after-school coordinator for five years and an administrative intern. She has spent the last 12 years at Camdenton High School, where she has been an essential part of the school community.
Her passion for education is reflected in her own academic journey. She began her college education at State Fair Community College, earning her Associate’s Degree in 1998. Education is more than just a career for Mrs. Jackson—it’s a family tradition. She and her husband are both educators, and their three children are proud Camdenton graduates. She is deeply invested in the district and excited to step into this new leadership role.
"I could not be more excited to continue working with outstanding students, staff, and community at Camdenton Schools," said Jackson. "Our family has deep roots in this community and education, and we are all proud to be Lakers. The Camdenton R-III School District is confident that her leadership will continue to foster a positive learning environment for students and staff alike.
Educator of the Year
Stephanie Baldwin- Camdenton High School
When asked about the most rewarding aspect of her job, Baldwin states, "when my students are excited to tell me how they did, or saw something at home or on the weekend that related to what we learned, and they felt smart because they "got it". Seeing them get excited or seeing them achieve..."
Baldwin believes that lessons should include all senses in order to immerse students in their learning and target all learning styles. This method creates memorable lessons and keeps students interested in learning. "I want my students to be physically engaged and always wonder what class will bring.", notes Baldwin. She believes that teaching is a calling and a gift. Baldwin says, "I am blessed to be a small part of their journey and guide, mentor or assist where possible in helping them become the best version of themselves."

Teacher of the Year
Laura Thompson- Dogwood Elementary
Laura Thompson is a Laker Academy Teacher at Dogwood Elementary. She attended Columbia College and Capella University and has taught for four years. The quote, "Kids that are loved at home come to school to learn. Kids that aren't come to school to be loved."- Dr. Mchazlett, is a quote that hits very close to home for Thompson. She credits her teachers for being sure she was fed, had clean clothes, and felt safe. "They had no idea of their impact on my life.", states Thompson.
Although it is not easy information for her to share, Thompson hopes that sharing her experience can inspire a teacher or help remind a teacher who may be feeling "burned out" that the work teachers do can save a life, as it did hers. She credits her teachers for waiting at the door every day to give her a hug, assisting her with homework, and understanding when she wasn't a model student because they understood her situation.
Thompson plans individualized instruction for students with three-tier behavior levels based on their needs and the function of their behavior. She emphasizes active listening, taking perspective, and open communication to create empathy among the students. Thompson adds, "No matter the behavior, it is essential to learn about the transformative power of compassion and how it can shape positive outcomes."
Thompson participates in the Missouri State Teachers Association, and is Dogwood's Behavior Support Team Facilitator, which provides support for teachers who are struggling with student behaviors in the classroom. She assists teachers in data collection, observations of behaviors in the classroom, and collaboration for function-based intervention. Her goal is to have all students safely and successfully participating in learning within their classrooms.
Seth Williams- Camdenton Middle School
In his fifth year as a special education teacher at Camdenton Middle School, Seth Williams teaches a variety of classes, manages a caseload of 15 students, and tracks progress on 57 individualized goals to ensure services, accommodations, and modifications are provided through consistent collaboration with colleagues. He writes and leads Individualized Education Plan and Review of Existing Data meetings to support his students' needs. "I strive to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students, emphasizing their growth, both academically and personally."
As a student, Williams found joy in school and saw it as a place full of "excitement and connection"". He enjoyed playing sports and explored different opportunities that school offered. He stepped out of his comfort zone and tried new things. Williams says, " These moments shaped my perspective and planted the seed for my future as a teacher. I wanted to create an environment where students could feel the same excitement, connection, and sense of belonging that I had experienced- a place where they could explore, grow, and discover their potential."
When not in the classroom, you can find Williams serving as the CMS announcer for football, basketball, wrestling, and other activities. This role allows him to build relationships with students and chat about games in the hall or classroom. Williams states, "...it's a privilege to contribute to the school spirit that makes our district so special."
