The MMES Buzz
News from Manchester Memorial Elementary School!
May 31, 2024
Principal's Note
Dear Memorial Families,
We had a wonderful school-wide meeting today where we honored our two retirees, Mrs. Ann Heslop and Mrs. Joanne Seaman. The children had some very funny definitions of retirement to share with us and most of them involved being "tired." We all shared a lot of laughs! Please join me in wishing Mrs. Heslop and Mrs. Seaman a wonderful retirement!
OK...I need to brag a little. The photo below is of my first class to go from Kindergarten at MMES all the way through to senior year at MERMHS! I first met this group when they were in Kindergarten during my first year at MMES. It was so great to welcome them all back to MMES this morning to parade through the hallways! This incredible group of humans will be "crossing the bridge" one last time this afternoon to graduate from high school. It was great to catch up with all of them and to see the faces on our students as they cheered on the "big kids" parading through the halls in their caps and gowns!
Don't blink...your children will be coming back in their caps and gowns before you know it! Enjoy every second!
Have a great weekend,
Best,
John

Health Room Headlines
I cannot believe that in 13 days this school year will end, and I will be walking out the door for the last time as your school nurse. I have been blessed to have a job that I love. So many memories, so many children, so many families that I will forever treasure.
When I reflect on my years here, we have been through so much. We have had our share of the good, the bad and the ugly, but through it all we stood tall and united for the children.
I have a bulletin board up now in my office “Our Strength is our Diversity,” we support each other, we are a team, we embrace challenges, we celebrate differences, we learn from each other, we respect each other, we share, and we listen. So true, this is what makes MMES so special.
I have had the honor of being sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother to so many. You are family, and you will forever hold a special place in my heart. I will never forget, and I hope that when you think of me, a smile will come upon your face. I wish you all health and happiness. As I say each year at kindergarten orientation, embrace these years because they go by very quickly.
Thank you for all your support and cooperation throughout the years.
Forever blessed and grateful,
Hugs,
Joanne

A note from Ms. Silag in the Library
It's that time of year when MMES kiddos need to return all the library books they have out. The classroom with the highest % of book returns by Friday, May 30th will win a popsicle party!
Overdue notices have been sent home. Please help your kiddo(s) find their books and send them into school any day of the week - doesn’t have to be their Library day. If you get a notice for a book that you know was returned, or was damaged or lost...please just send the overdue notice back to Ms. Silag with a note explaining the situation so she can make note of it on the library database.
Summer Lending for those interested, and who have returned all their books, will be the week of June 3rd for students who are currently in K - Gr 4.
Thank you for your help! It takes a village:)
-Ms. Silag
