My face hurts from smiling. I can't stop from smiling or contain my happiness when students and staff are back in the building. It has been a great start to the school year.

Our first home game is today! High school students can get in free to the game with their student ID from last year (or screenshot of their information from Skyward until the new IDs are taken in September). You will notice we have construction fencing all around the ticket booth area in preparation for the new ticket, concession and restroom building that will be breaking ground yet this fall. Exciting stuff!

The construction also means that there will not be any parking at any time on the access road behind the high school and middle school. Thank you for your assistance with this.

Welcome back and have a great school year!

Congratulations, Macy!

Congratulations to Macy, a Freshman at Omro High School who became the 57th Miss Rural Winnebago!

Miss Rural Winnebago (MRW) is a yearlong, public figure position for females in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. The program aims to provide each Miss with a unique experience that will leave her with stronger personal and interpersonal skills after her reign. MRW will engage in a variety of events, such as parades, public speaking, or service activities.

To be considered for this role, Macy had to complete an application and participate in an interview. She was one of four young ladies in the running for this crown. Macy was chosen and crowned the 57th Miss Rural Winnebago at the Waukau Chicken BBQ on June 8. Since then, she has rode in many local parades, announced a panel at Womenventure at EAA, helped the Fairest of the Fair pass out ribbons at the Winnebago County Fair, and just recently helped run a produce stand for Olden Organics at the Oshkosh Farmers Market.

Macy will hold her position until next June, when the new 58th Miss Rural Winnebago will be crowned.

THANK YOU First Presbyterian Church!

On Tuesday, the Omro School District administration, teachers, and staff enjoyed one of their favorite traditions—the 15th annual “Back to Books” luncheon, hosted by First Presbyterian Church! With many helping hands, the day was filled with warmth and hospitality as everyone prepared for the new school year. From perfectly grilled burgers and brats to fresh salads and delicious desserts, the volunteers at First Presbyterian made the event truly special. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped make our back-to-school week so memorable!

Senior Sunrise

Keeping with tradition at Omro High School, this year’s Senior class gathered at sunrise in the high school parking lot to kick off their final year. Together, they watched the dawn break, shared time with friends, and began creating the first of many unforgettable memories their senior year will undoubtedly bring.

Well Done!

The following Sources of Strength Peer Leaders—who also represent NHS and Key Club—Lexi, Tyler, Emelia, Addison, Landon, Parker, and Ralphie—volunteered their time at the First Annual Waukau Youth Group Golf Outing on Saturday, August 16. These students helped run hole events and handed out raffle baskets to winners, making the day enjoyable despite the rain cutting the event short. The outing was still considered a success, and the Waukau Youth Group is excited to announce that they will be awarding a scholarship this year, and in the years ahead, to graduating Seniors. One of the scholarship requirements includes volunteering, with a special emphasis on helping at Waukau Youth–sponsored events. Seniors are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity and to spread the word!

Grading and Communication

Based on feedback from our families, we have done a 'tune-up' on how we communicate grades for our students. Please see the links below for additional information.

Family and Student Guide for OHS Grading

What will you see?

  • You will notice that the grades in Skyward are "live". Grades will be calculated as the semester goes to give you a better understanding of how your child is doing at that moment. We hope this will give a greater clarity to students and their families on what the child is earning for a grade.
  • Students will still have the opportunities for retakes/reassessments, but we will have all retakes/reassessments for summatives completed prior to the end of the semester (no additional week after the semester is completed). Please see the teacher syllabi for details on their reassessment procedures. You can find these in the teacher's Google Classroom

Skyward/Google Classroom

Stay in touch with how your child is doing in class by checking Skyward and Google Classroom. Here are some resources from the Family Resources page to help you:

Omro Area Community Center Needs YOU!

Youth Advisory Council - YAC is intended to be an event planning committee of 12-18 year old's with adult supervision. This group is open to all area children of this age. They will be thinking up and enacting programs for themselves and those younger than them. The age range is large as it helps enable the older youth to be good examples for the younger. Free pizza will be available at the first meeting on September 1!

Senior Parent Meeting

New this year! Senior parents: we would like you and your senior to attend a meeting on Wednesday, September 3rd at 6pm in the High School Commons. This meeting will cover some important information on what to expect for seniors and their parents during this last school year. There will be time to meet as a parent group for planning activities for the seniors as part of this meeting.

Picture Day is Coming!

Picture day for OMS/OHS students is Friday, September 5th in the morning. All students will have their picture taken, regardless if parents order a picture package or not. A student ID will be given to each student which can be used to get into most home games. We ask that students avoid scheduling appointments for that morning. Picture retake day will be on the morning of Friday, October 17th.

Driver Education Grant

“Great news! Another round of the Driver Education Grant program will launch on August 25th, 2025 at 9:00AM. Students and/or parents may visit us at Wisconsin Department of Transportation Driver Education Grant Program to apply.
Under the program, teens who are income eligible can apply to Wisconsin DMV to have their Class D (Regular) driver education paid for. Students with grants can enroll in any driver education program offered by an authorized driver education provider (such as a public school, CESA program, tribal or private school, or DMV-licensed driver training school). Similar to last year’s program, students will be issued coupons to provide directly to driver training schools. Driver training schools can then submit the coupons for reimbursement. Reimbursements are paid directly to driver training schools.

If you are currently enrolled to receive Driver Education Grant funding, there are no additional steps needed to be able to redeem coupons under the new funding. If you are not enrolled in the Driver Education Grant program, unsure of your status or have any other additional questions, please reach out to us at: dotdegrantprogram@dot.wi.gov.

Note: Omro High School no longer provides driver's education courses onsite. If you would like more information on local driving schools, you may stop into the office to pick up a flyer.

  • Step 2: Student collects an excused slip from the office with the medical note.

  • Step 3: Student gives the excused slip to their coach/advisor before participating.

A parent may call a student in for personal reasons as long as they arrive before 2nd hour and are within their 10 excused absences for the year. Unexcused absences mean no participation until the next full day. Final decisions rest with the Dean of Students or Principal.
