HF FYI

The school year is winding down, but our Vikings are still putting their best foot forward: Big congrats to our April Students of the Month!

Surendran Heyward, Zoe Trotter, Stylah Glover, Jamayas Davis, Lily Jacobsen, Xavier Wright (Not pictured: Adeyemi Kasali, Mercy Taylor, Dannen Rose). Continue to finish the year strong!

Homewood-Flossmoor High School is proud to partner with the Live Free 999 Foundation to host a special Mental Health Community Event on Monday, May 5, 2025 in our Performing Arts Center (South Building, Enter Door 9).

Families are invited to attend an engaging panel discussion from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., led by Carmela Wallace, founder of Live Free 999 and advocate for mental health awareness. This important conversation will bring together students, mental health professionals, and community partners to share insights, break stigmas, and offer support for mental well-being.

On the newest episode of The Voyage: We hear from Sophomore Addison Trotter--a staff writer for HF's school newspaper, The Voyager--as she interviews Superintendent Dr. Scott Wakeley in our brand new Net-Zero Science Building!

It's finally here: We're excited to host our ribbon-cutting ceremony for our new science building on this Tuesday, May 6th at 4:30 p.m. The new science building faces Flossmoor Road and extends from G-Building in our South Building. We can't wait to celebrate the monumental opening of an awesome learning center for our students and their community!

It is only the second public school building of its kind in the State of Illinois. Designed to produce as much energy as it requires to operate (an estimated $84,500 annual savings), the building is a beacon for conservation education. Featuring state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories and collaboration spaces, it will support the science education of nearly 3,000 high school students annually.

That's a wrap for Decision Day 2025! Seniors, the countdown is officially on. It was super fun getting to celebrate your next chapters today!

HF Summer Sports Camps provide student-athletes in our community with a foundation of fundamental skills, knowledge, character, leadership and love for athletics. Recognizing that while skills and drills are critical to the improvement of an athlete, making the sport fun is essential to developing the passion for the game.

We hope you’ll join the tradition of HF athletics this summer by training and learning from some of the best coaches in high school athletics in some of the best facilities in the country! We can't wait to have our Vikings and Future Vikings here this summer!

From yard signs to cut-outs and more, don't forget to shop our online store with Crossmark to show off your support of the Viking in your life! Shop the store today.

Student Government is hosting its shoe drive through May 10th. Many individuals in our own communities and beyond lack proper footwear--but together, we can make a meaningful impact!

Students can bring gently used or new shoes to the North or South Cafeterias. Parents and guardians can also drop off shoes at Door 1 (the main entrance off Kedzie Ave). Thanks in advance for making this drive a success!

You Matter 2 is hosting its 10-year anniversary, A Decade of Impact Celebration, on Thursday, May 29th. HF is proud to have one of our own, Superintendent Dr. Scott Wakeley, as one of their honorees, receiving the Institutional Partnership Award for his role in empowering youth and strengthening our community. You can join in on the celebration by getting your tickets here. We hope to see you there!
