Dear GEC Family,
As the principal of Genesee Early College, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year at GEC. It is our mission to help every student feel welcomed, connected, and a part of our GEC family. We strive to challenge your students academically and help them grow into successful high school and college students. At GEC, we have great teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning. We want all of our students to leave GEC prepared to complete their postsecondary education and thrive in meaningful careers.
Our most exciting news is that we have completed our move to French Hall which is located in the heart of the University of Michigan - Flint campus. We welcome you to tour our new space and find your classroom at our Open House on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Students and parents should park in Lot A which is located near the Recreation Center. You will find a couple of maps in this newsletter to help guide you. This will also be the location of student and family parking during the school year, and where families can drop off and pick up their students each day.
One final piece of news that I have to share is that GEC counselor, Betsy Wambaugh, has taken a counseling position at another local school. We will truly miss the guidance and commitment she has given to this program and its students. Until we fill her position, please contact Assistant Principal, Mrs. Thomas, with any concerns that you have.

Students are now able to come to the GEC main office to check out college textbooks for the fall semester. Please follow the directions in the College Materials Process/Procedures form attached below. A copy of the check-out form is also attached. Please remember that we will not check out fall materials until you have returned college textbooks from last spring.
We know that you are super busy and that you may prefer to receive information from us in different ways. At GEC we have several ways that we send out information; phone calls, email, Google Classroom and text messaging with Remind.
We encourage you to sign up for Remind to get messages sent right to your cell phone through text or notification. To join Remind, text @gecparents to the number 81010.
