Paw Press
Week of September 21-25
We are so proud of the various opportunities our Litel students have such as the Student Council program. Our 4th-6th grade students were able to run their campaign for various officer positions, complete interviews, and give speeches in front of their peers before participating in the voting process. They did a wonderful job!!
PTA News
- The PTA Membership drive has been extended to October 31st. Help your child's class earn a donut party!
- Congratulations to Mrs. Verdugo and Mrs. Barbosa for winning the elephant for the day! We are waiting to see which class gets to KEEP the elephant for getting the highest percentage of donations for the Fun Run.
- Please see the Fun Run update below. Let's work to reach our goal!
- Thank you, PTA, for providing extra PE equipment for each of the classes. PTA is currently setting up extra soccer nets so that the elementary and primary students can have their own soccer play areas on the playground.
September 23rd Fun Run Times per Grade Level
- Grade levels run at these times:
8:10-8:40 AM Grades 3-4
8:50-9:20 AM Grades 1-2
9:40-10:10 AM Grades 5-6
10:20-10:50 AM for TK/Kindergarten
- If parents would like to attend and watch the event, they must check in and get a visitor badge.
- To avoid the long lines, it's recommended to get the visitor badge in advance starting the Monday before the actual event. We'd hate to have you miss your child's time because you got stuck in the line!
- Parents and families are welcome to attend to watch their child participate. If bringing a younger child not enrolled at Litel, parents MUST actively supervise the child or keep them in the stroller, etc for the safety of all of our students. Younger children can be allowed because we want to promote participation and involvement for parents/families.
- For all other school events such as class parties, field trips, volunteering in the class, younger children are NOT allowed for liability purposes as we need supervision and focus to be on our Litel students and their activities. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
- It is expected to be hot again on Wednesday. Parents may want to bring lawn chairs & water for themselves. We will try to set up some easy ups for some shade.
PBIS
Litel, along with all the other CVUSD schools were recognized and received a Diamond Award for the implementation of PBIS creating a positive and safe learning environment for students! Our teachers and staff work very hard to make this possible!!
Reading Challenge Update: 1,036 Points
Our schoolwide AR goal is 25,000 points. Your child should be reading books at their AR level and taking quizzes at school. We need every student to contribute by reading on a regular basis. We will update monthly on how we're progressing on the goal as well as which class has the highest points in each grade level.
Great job to these classes for starting STRONG:
Mr. Gines Class 86.1 points
Mrs. Lauer's Class: 58.8 points
Mrs. Acosta's Class: 114.7 points
Ms. Rachal's Class: 114.1 points
Mrs. Norimoto's Class: 141 points
Mr. Shkokani's Class: 167.7 points
Celebrate the Family Poster Contest

Student of the Month Awards Assemblies
- We hold Student of the Month Awards Assemblies towards the end of each month.
- Each teacher is able to recognize 2 students per class either for a Principal's Award or Student of the Month award.
- At the end of each trimester, we will also include a Math Award per grade level. Teachers will share the criteria for how students may earn this award.
- If your child is receiving an award, parents will receive an invitation letter to attend the awards ceremony.
- NEW this year, parents will not need to check in through the office to attend the awards assemblies as they are only allowed into the MPR and exit from there under the direct supervision of administrators.
