Fisher FamilyUpdateMay 31, 2024

Dear Families,

As we approach the final stretch of this school year, I wanted to take a moment to remind all of us to take a deep breath, reflect and appreciate the journey that was the 2023-2024 school year. The months of May and June are jam packed with events inside and outside of school and we can easily find ourselves wishing away the final days of the school year to get to the slower pace of summer. I encourage us all to appreciate the days we have together with this year’s teachers and classmates. Our students have worked tirelessly, both academically and personally, and their growth is a testament to their daily effort and resilience. Let’s do our best to enjoy every moment with gratitude and appreciation. Let's celebrate the milestones our children have achieved and the memories they've created. Whether it's through laughter, learning, or simply spending time together, let's find joy in the year we have had together. As we prepare to say goodbye to our wonderful teachers and classmates, let's appreciate the connections we've made, the lessons we've learned and make the most of these final days together.

Have a great weekend,

Brian

WPS Summer Reading

Engaging in reading throughout the summer months helps students of all ages build their knowledge of the world, learn new vocabulary, and practice their word solving skills. This helps them feel prepared and confident when entering the next grade in the Fall.

Students in kindergarten through 5th grade are highly encouraged to read great books this summer. Looking for book recommendations and ways for your child to share the books they are reading? Check out the WPS Summer Literacy Google Site by clicking HERE.

Rising 6th graders have preselected a book that they are committing to reading this summer. Ask them what title they chose! When they enter WMS in September, they will be meeting with a teacher and other students who read the same book and having a book discussion. Students will receive a grade of pass or fail for reading the book and participating in the discussion. For more information, click HERE.

Tuesday afternoon a former Fisher School student, Tyler Forgeron, stopped by to give a donation check to our school garden program. "Fisher Farms” is grateful for the help. The Walpole community has come together over the years to support this project, from Eagle Scouts, Fisher families and former students writing grants and donating products and services…we are blessed to be a part of this community! We teach our students where our food comes from, how to grow it as organically as possible, companion plantings, beneficial insects, and the gift of offering our produce for donation at the Walpole Farmers Market.

Tyler has collected bottles and cans for over four years now, donating the revenue to support different organizations. Originally this money was earmarked for the Norfolk Aggie, however, they wished to "pay it forward." We are grateful to both the Norfolk Aggie AND Tyler Forgeron for this thoughtful gesture!
