π This Week at a Glance
From the Principal's Desk:
Dear Toquam Families,
As we honor and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we are grateful for the opportunity to pause, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversations with our children about kindness, justice, service, and community. This day of reflection reminds us of the important role we all play in helping our children grow into compassionate and responsible citizens.
As we return to school, we encourage families to continue supporting Stamford Public Schoolsβ Strive for Five Campaign by ensuring students attend school daily. Consistent attendance is essential to academic success and helps our scholars remain connected to their learning and school community.
With winter weather upon us, students will continue to go outside for recess whenever possible. Please be sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the wintery conditions so they can enjoy fresh air and much-needed exercise.
We are also excited to share several upcoming events:
STEM Night β February 18, from 4:00β6:00 PM
Join us for an evening showcasing extraordinary student projects. Students in grades 2β5 are invited to participate and share their projects and must be accompanied by an adult. We hope to see you there!Annual Spelling Bee β March 28
Please mark your calendars and begin encouraging your child(ren) to prepare. This is always a fun and memorable event for our scholars.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Your involvement is what truly makes Toquam a Special Place, and we are grateful to work alongside such a dedicated school community.
Warm regards,
Sibyl Brooks
Martin Luther King, Jr school will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026.
As we approach our upcoming day off in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we take time to reflect on his enduring legacy of courage, compassion, and commitment to justice. Dr. King reminded us that each of us has the power to make a difference through our words, actions, and service to others. This day is an opportunity for families to engage in meaningful conversations with their children about kindness, fairness, and standing up for what is right, while encouraging them to lead with empathy and respect in their daily lives.
