A Note from Dr. Hooks

Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Enrollment season has begun! Please review the re-enrollment kickoff information shared under "News & Updates". Be mindful that reenrolling in early April will significantly support maintaining small classroom sizes.

If you have not had the opportunity to read the March edition of the Equity and Anti-Racism Task Force Newsletter, you may use this link to view.

Per DCPS, following Spring Break, all students and school-based staff (including partner staff, school-based service providers, and Early Stages team members) will be expected to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before returning to school on April 24, 2023, by uploading results to the centralized database. Hyde-Addison ES will send COVID test kits home with students by Thursday, April 13, 2023, to support families with this DCPS requirement.

Reminders:

As part of the Hardy MS feeder pattern, schools have been asked to share the attached letter from the Deputy Mayor for Education, Paul Kihn. The letter explains the impact of Mayor Bowser’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Fiscal Year 2024-2029 budget submission on the opening of Foxhall ES.

Marymount University is holding its annual STEM event on April 22, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am in Rowley Hall. This event is for all students from PK-9th grades. Parents, teachers, administrators, and especially students are invited to a day of fun activities which include but are not limited to Arts and Crafts activities, making and setting off rockets, petting a snake or turtles, making mother's day presents, maker space activities and much more. Please see the attachment below.

NEWS & UPDATES NEWS & UPDATES

Re-Enrollment Coffee Kick Off

You can re-enroll your child at Hyde-Addison beginning on Friday, March 31, 2023! Did you know that we are only able to keep our class sizes small if current Hyde-Addison families re-enroll their children right away?

Help us meet our goal of re-enrolling at least 100 students by the end of the day on April 3, 2023! You can do this at home or at school:

  1. Submit your enrollment paperwork and proof of residency online -OR-
  2. Join us on the playground on April 3 from 8:00-9:00am or 2:00-4:00pm to re-enroll on laptops that we will have set up. We will be there to support you with any questions and help you knock it out!

Every student who is re-enrolled by the end of the day on April 3 will come home wearing a one-of-a-kind, blue Hyde-Addison wrist band to go along with their core value bracelets that they have earned!

If you know that your child(ren) will not be re-enrolling at Hyde-Addison next year, it is not yet time for us to work together on their withdrawal paperwork, however you can fill out this brief form to let us know this important information.
