News You Can Use
Pizza and Progress Night - Nov. 12
We are SO excited to invite you to our Quarter One report card night. It will be November 12th from 5:30 - 6:30. You can pick up your report card, grab some pizza, connect with your student's teachers, and set up a time to have a one-on-one conference. We are also offering two parent sessions starting at 6:00pm. One is for 9th grade parents on grades, graduation requirements, and supporting our 9th graders through a successful high school career. Our other one is for 10th - 12th grade parents that highlights internship, career, and college opportunities based on GPA.
PreACT and WorkKeys
On November 2nd, all 10th graders will take the PreACT, and some of our early graduating seniors will be taking the WorkKeys Assessment. The PreACT provides 10th-grade students with a unique ACT test practice experience. The WorkKeys Assessment is designed to measure students' career readiness as they prepare to graduate high school and allow them to demonstrate their abilities to potential employers. Both exams will take about 3 hours, and students can leave once the exams are over. Buses will run like normal at 4:15. Like the PSAT, bags will not be allowed in the testing room. Students should be prepared for them to be safely stored, or they can be left at home.

If you're a current senior on track to graduate, you’re eligible to participate in NC College Connect. You should have received your NC College Connect letter in mid-September.
NC College Connect is a program that directly admits North Carolina public high school seniors who are on track to graduate, have a 2.8 GPA or higher, are enrolled in a fourth-level math and meet program requirements to participating UNC System universities, North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, and their local North Carolina community college. The higher your GPA, the more schools to which you’ll be directly admitted!
Don't have a 2.8 GPA? If you are on track to graduate, you’ll be directly admitted to your local community college!
Where do I go to claim my spot?
The portal is open until Jan 8, 2027. Go to the NC College Connect portal and log in with your CFNC account. Then:
- Make sure your CFNC account information matches your NC-SIS name exactly.
