DMS Delivers
January 10, 2025
Dear DMS Families,
We are officially back in a routine at DMS since returning from our extended vacation week. This week has been cold, but there has been a lot of great things happening inside of DMS.
Next week, DMS will be highlighted as a part of the Superintendent's Spotlight at the School Committee Meeting. We are excited for this opportunity, and students at each grade level have worked diligently to make sure we are ready for this presentation. The Spotlight Presentation will highlight great things that are happening at DMS, so feel free to stop by the meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Below you will find further information on how you can support a DMS family in need of our help, as well as further information on Tuesday's meeting and on a Hold and Secure drill that will take place next week at DMS. You will also find the PTO's February newsletter and information on Monday's SEPAC meeting, as well as various fliers from the community.
Have a great weekend!

Help Support a DMS Family!
As many of you know, there was a house fire in Dighton this week that impacted a DMS family. If you are able to help support the family as they navigate this unimaginable situation, please use this link. Thank you in advance for any support you may be able to give to one of our own.
Hold and Secure Drill- 1/15/25
On Wednesday, January 15th, we will hold our second safety drill of the year in collaboration with the Dighton Police Department. For this drill, we will conduct a Hold and Secure Inside. A Hold and Secure Inside is used when there is a potentially dangerous situation (or medical emergency) outside of the DMS building.
Students will return to the building if they are outside for class, or they will remain in the classrooms that they are in at the time. Teachers will close and lock their doors and then take attendance to ensure all students are accounted for in class. With a Hold and Secure Inside, typical classroom instruction will continue, but students will stay in their classrooms with the doors locked until they receive an "All Clear."
On Wednesday, teachers will again review the difference between the three safety protocols that we use, all of which are a form of Hold and Secure with varying levels of response. While teachers will debrief with students during and after the drill, please be sure to let us know if your child has any remaining questions when they get home from school on Wednesday.
DMS School Committe Spotlight- 1/14/25
The DR School Committee has begun holding their meetings in our schools across the district. Next week's School Committee Meeting, scheduled for 6:30pm on Tuesday, January 14th, will be hosted at Dighton Middle School. During this meeting, Dighton Middle School will be highlighted in the Superintendent's Spotlight, and DES will be celebrated for Mrs. Perry's class winning the "Name the Snowplow" contest for Mass DOT. We hope to see you there!

Reminder to Families
Dear DR Families,
As you may know, Massachusetts now provides free breakfast and lunch for all students across the Commonwealth!
We are encouraging families who may have qualified for the National Free & Reduced School Lunch Program in the past to complete the online application. This helps determine eligibility and ensures that we can continue to offer reduced or waived fees for various programs and activities. When completing the application, please remember to include consent for sharing your status with relevant departments and programs.
Without this qualification and your consent, we will be unable to provide reduced or waived fees.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Technology Repair Fees
Dear Families,
We hope this message finds you well. As part of our commitment to maintaining our technology resources, we wanted to inform you about our updated repair fee structure. This will go into effect on October 28, 2024. These fees help us cover the cost of repairs when school-issued devices are damaged due to misuse or carelessness. The fees are divided into three tiers, depending on the extent of the damage:
- Level 1: Charger, Cover (top or bottom), Touchpad, etc- $40
- Level 2: Keyboard, Monitor- $75
- Level 3: Total Loss/Replacement- $300
We encourage students to handle their devices with care to avoid any damage and the associated costs. If a device does require repair, the appropriate fee will be communicated to you along with the steps to resolve the issue.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support in keeping our technology in great condition!
In addition, if your child needs Chromebook repairs, you will receive an email directly from mySchoolBucks regarding payment.
