Principal's Message
Welcome Back, Sparling Families!
My name is Chelsea Niederlag and I am the new Principal for Sparling School this year! I am so happy to have met so many of you already and look forward to getting to know everyone else as the year goes on. This is my 14th year as a teacher, and I spent the last three as an Assistant Principal, also within Battle River. I am very excited to take on this new challenge and role and hope that together, we will have the best year!
Just a few reminders; our staff and students are currently working on reviewing the rules and procedures of the classroom and school, as well as getting to know each other! It can take a bit of time but we are all working together to find out what is going to work best for each class! If you have any questions or concerns, please make sure you are reaching out to your child's teacher, as they are the ones who know best as to what is going on in classroom!
Also, parents and families are not allowed in the hallways of the school during the day. Please make sure that if you are bringing your child in late, or need to drop something off with them during the day, you are coming to the office to check in with our admin assistant, Joanne. This helps keep all of our students safe and prevents interruptions to their learning time! If you are needing to talk with your child's teacher, please call or email to make an appointment with them.
Thank you so much for making the first few days of school go well, it has been so nice to see all the students smiling faces as we get back into the habit of things! Please know that you can always reach out to me at the school either through email cniederlag@brsd.ab.ca or phone 780-672-0106.
I hope you have a wonderful September!
Sparling Bell Schedule
Please make sure that you are not dropping your children off before 8 AM as there is no supervision until this time. After school, the dismissal bell rings at 2:50PM and supervision ends at 3 PM.
Please let the school know if your children are going to be late in the morning or late to be picked up in the afternoon.
NO PARKING IN THE STAFF PARKING LOT OR BUS LANE
Also, please do not park in the bus lane in front of the school between 7:30-9 AM or 2-3:30 PM.
Thank you for understanding and keeping our students safe!
Crossing the Street Safely
Please make sure that you and your children are crossing the street safely by using the Crosswalk! Please do not cross through cars or busses, as we have had a few near misses already and want to make sure that everyone stays safe!
Meet the Staff Open House and BBQ
Please join us this Thursday, September 10 from 5-7PM at the school to meet our staff and have a hot dog!
The school will be open for families to come in and see their students classroom and meet their teachers as well.
See you there!
Outcome Based Reporting
Battle River has moved away from traditional report cards to something called Outcome Based Reporting. Families will have access to this through each student's Power School account. Please read this document for more information and for helpful videos on how to make sure you can access your child's progress properly.
