Ellison's Middle School Information

This newsletter provides important information about Ellison feeder schools: Rawlinson Middle School and Garcia Middle School, as well as NISD Magnet Middle Schools. You will also find updates on course selections, field trips, and more.

This Smore is a live document and will be updated throughout the year, so please check back regularly for the latest information.

Middle school course offerings are determined by student interest and alignment with high school program opportunities. The course selection process for the following school year typically begins in early spring and involves both students and parents.

Soon, your child will bring home a Course Selection Worksheet for you to work on together to select their courses for next school year. After making the selections, the parent/guardian must sign the form and send it back to school with their child. Last, during Guidance class, Mrs. Jordan will guide all students through the registration process on their Chromebooks.

Applications close January 23, 2026.

Acceptance letters will be mailed by the magnet schools on February 9, 2026.

Your child will complete the Course Selection Planning Guide for their home campus just like other students, even if they have applied to a magnet school.

Rawlinson Patriot Camp: Part 1 (field trip), Wednesday, Dec. 17th, 9:15AM -12:00PM *ONLY students going to Rawlinson based on their address may attend.

Middle School Course Selection window opens Dec. 5th - Dec. 19th (during guidance class at Ellison)
