Weekly Monday Message from Ms. Grace Weekly Monday Message from Ms. Grace

Dear La Escuela Fratney Families,

This is Ms. Grace with your weekly Monday Message.

We had a wonderful week at Fratney with a parent meeting, our attendance competition, and the food bag distribution—thank you to Amanda and all SEC parents who helped!

This week we celebrate National School Psychology Week (Nov. 3–7, 2025)! We want to give a big shoutout and share our gratitude for Ms. Cindy, our amazing school psychologist, for all she does to support our students.

November is here, and we only have 14 school days this month. Please check your child’s backpack and blue folder for the November calendar. A new monthly attendance competition begins this week—remember, every day counts!

On Friday, November 21st, we will celebrate the end of the first trimester with our first theme presentations at 10:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Families are invited to attend! K3 and K4 students in Ms. Ivonne’s and Ms. Rubio’s classes will sing and dance, and our 2nd graders will perform as well.

That evening, Friday, November 21st, we’ll also host our annual Multicultural Family Night, celebrating our community’s cultural heritage. Families are encouraged to bring food or items that represent your culture. Please review the flyer in your child’s backpack and return it as soon as possible if you’d like to participate.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s have a great week, Fratney!

Warmly,

Ms. Grace

Sra. Grace

Due to interest in a family movie night and fundraising for additional family events, we are proposing a family movie night in December that would be free for all students and families but that parents could donate concessions to sell. The proceeds from this upcoming movie night would go to the PTO account to support food for upcoming family and student events since school budgets are never allowed to purchase food for family meetings, students, etc. Please answer this brief survey to show interest in a family movie night in December and fundraising for family and student events in the future. Our next family meeting will be Wednesday, November 19th at 5 pm. If you are interested in helping plan and organize this or other upcoming family events please join us.

We have developed a holiday policy that we feel is respectful to all our families. Seasons and holidays define and drive the curriculum in many schools. La Escuela Fratney’s policy discourages the overuse of holiday/seasons in our curriculum. Instead, we believe holiday activities can contribute to a multicultural and antiracist perspective. Our curriculum includes authentic and sensitive experiences that reflect our students and the broader community.

MPS visitor policies are designed to keep students and staff safe MPS visitor policies are designed to keep students and staff safe

Wednesday, September 24, 2025

Every day, MPS staff are working to make schools safe and positive for students and staff. Respect is the key to a positive school environment inside MPS buildings and on school grounds. When students, families, and staff show respect for one another, teaching and learning can take place and our schools can be successful. We encourage everyone to show respect by:

  • Remaining calm

  • Using kind language

  • Listening to and following staff instructions

  • Working toward solutions together

Visitor Policy and Procedures

The safety of students and staff is a top priority in the district. Because we welcome families in schools, we want everyone to understand the procedures for visiting MPS buildings. This will help everyone know what to expect and make visits go more smoothly.

All visitors must:

  • Schedule any meetings with school staff in advance.

  • Visitors are limited to TWO per student for meetings, conferences, and classroom visits unless approved by the building administrator or designee.

  • Use the designated main entrance.

  • Report to the office/security desk.

  • Show a form of identification. Everyone age 14 and older must present a school ID, driver license, or other photo ID.

  • Sign in and out on the MPS Visitor Record.

  • Be escorted to and from the requested location.

  • Wear/display the MPS Visitor Pass at all times while in the school.

  • Return the Visitor Pass to the office/security desk and sign out.

Student Behavior Concerns

To protect our students, if anyone has a concern about student behavior, the behavior must be reported to a staff member and/or the child’s teacher or further action. No one should attempt to confront, discipline, or punish another parent or guardian’s child. The district has many procedures in place along with a Student Code of Conduct that describes disciplinary actions. Misbehavior and violations of the code of conduct will be handled according to district processes in place. The Student Code of Conduct can be found in the Parent/Student Handbook on Rights, Responsibilities, and Discipline at mpsmke.com/rights.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation to keep our schools safe.

MPS Calendar-La Escuela Fratney Calendar for 2025-2026 MPS Calendar-La Escuela Fratney Calendar for 2025-2026

There will be one calendar for the whole district again this year. Please review this calendar before making plans for trips or vacations. Students must be in school 95% of the time or more which means they can only miss 1 day a month the whole school year. Students who miss more than 10 days of school a year fall behind academically and socially. Make a plan now to be in school every day on time.
