McKelvey Primary
March 26, 2026
Dear McKelvey Primary Families,
I hope you all enjoyed your spring break! We are back in action and it will be summer before we know it.
It might sound crazy, but it is already time to start thinking about class placement for the 2026-2027 school year. Creating class lists is an important process and one we take very seriously. As we begin to develop our class lists, we strive to create a balanced classroom environment for our students.
Please know this challenging process involves multiple variables. When planning, we take into consideration academic needs, learning styles, peer relationships, class size, gender, ethnicity, social-emotional needs, and much more. We work to create the most balanced class to support learning and growth.
If you choose, you may write an email or letter to me sharing what you would like us to consider during classroom placement. We understand that you know your child best. We will not be honoring specific teacher requests, so please do not write a teacher request in your letter. All letters and emails need to be sent to me by April 3rd.
Thanks for your partnership!
Sincerely,
Dr. Christina Pliske

Read-A-Thon
We are excited to kick off our McKelvey Read-A-Thon starting Monday, March 23, 2026! This is a fun and meaningful way for our students to build strong reading habits while helping support our school.
Getting started is simple! We encourage you to activate your child’s reader account today by clicking the link below and following the quick instructions:
https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323831393231/1?utm=email
The Read-A-Thon is a great way to motivate students to read more while inviting friends and family to cheer them on and support their efforts. Every page read helps students grow their reading skills—and the funds raised help support programs and opportunities for our McKelvey students.
Our goal is to have every student participate, so we hope your family will join the fun and help make this year’s Read-A-Thon a huge success!
Thank you for supporting our readers and our school.
Hosted by McKelvey PTO.
Panera Dine Out Night TONIGHT!
Join us for a McKelvey Dine-Out event this Thursday, March 26, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Panera at Westport Plaza. Come enjoy a meal and support our school—hope to see you there!

School Calendars
Below is a link to our district calendar (click the blue button) as well as a snapshot of the half and no school days throughout the year. We know unplanned absences will occur, but your child's attendance is extremely important. We miss them when they are gone and they miss important learning and social interaction when they are not at school. If possible, when planning for appointments and/or vacations, please attempt to use the afternoons of half days or days off school throughout the year.
