#NESReads
Shelf Life in the Hawks' Nest
So what are your kids learning, doing, and making in the library?
I have set a goal for myself to share what your students are learning via a regular newsletter. While some folks see what we're doing on social media, others are not on social media, and I want you to be able to see what's happening in the library.
I also would love for you to share with me about upcoming units of study, themes, or topics of interest so I can integrate those into my library lessons where possible, as well as create book lists in Destiny as a resource for your and your students. Click below for a survey to sign up for research, collaborative projects, or if you'd like me to create a particular resource list or pull books on a topic for you. You can also let me know what sorts of training/PD/support I can provide in regards to better serving you and your students on information literacy. This feedback will help me provide the best possible experience for you and your readers, so thank you for taking a moment to do this!
I am including our schedule below, and will share this in the newsletter each time I send it for your reference. Mondays are a GREAT day to sign up for research projects and other collaborations, so fill out the form or come talk to me so we can get something awesome going to enhance your units of study!
Thanks for all you do. I appreciate each of you and I am thankful to be on this amazing team!

November Stations and Centers in the Library
One activity our 3rd-5th graders really loved in November was Google Interland (Click here to check it out). This is a FREE game created by Google to help educate students on being safe online, differentiating between factual and fake information, being kind online and sharing things only with permission, and creating and storing information securely online, to name just a few things. Of ALL the 3-5 classes, only a small handful of students had ever played these games before. I have linked it on the school website under "For Students", so they can play this game when they have free time and reinforce these skills. We will continue working on safe and responsible internet use throughout the year in our library lessons.
