✝️ Prayer

Loving God,

As we celebrate the joy of Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with your peace, courage and love. Help us to be people who show kindness,

compassion and understanding to others each day.

May the Spirit guide our students, staff and families to live as faithful disciples

who bring hope and joy to our community.

We ask this through Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It was lovely to receive a message from a parent recently acknowledging the outstanding sportsmanship demonstrated by our Year 6 students during an after-school netball game.

The students were faced with some challenging moments and rough play throughout the game, yet they continued to respond respectfully in every interaction. Most importantly they supported and encouraged one another, showing maturity, self-control and kindness under pressure.

We spoke about this at our morning assembly and reflected on how easy it can be to make good choices when everything is going well, but how true character is shown when we are challenged by the actions or words of others. In those moments we still have the choice to respond with respect, compassion and dignity.

It was a wonderful example of our students living out the values of Making Jesus Real beyond the school gates. We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 6 students represented themselves, their families and St Denis.

Mother’s Day

Thank you to our P&F Executive and Year 3 Parent Representatives for coordinating such a wonderful Mother’s Day Morning Tea. Through the generosity of donations and the support of the P&F, there was a beautiful array of food for our parents and grandparents to enjoy.

A special touch was added with pampering treats for mums, including face masks and photo moments to capture the celebration.

Thank you to everyone involved for creating another warm and successful community event.

Congratulations on Confirmation

What a privilege it was to witness our amazing Year 6 students complete their final Sacrament of Initiation with Confirmation on Friday evening. We were incredibly proud of the mature and respectful way they conducted themselves throughout the past few weeks during the Confirmation Retreat Day, the parent/child workshop and of course on the evening itself.

Sincere thanks to our families for helping make the occasion so special, to Father Anthony for leading the celebration and to our Year 6 teachers Ms Lannigan and Mrs Mac for preparing the students so thoughtfully with support from Mrs Scaddan and Mrs B our Assistant Principals. Also to Mrs Cotton for the ‘sibling' choir. It was a beautiful celebration of faith and community.

QCESR Audit

Thank you to the students, staff and parents from the P&F Executive and CSAC who generously gave their time to engage in conversations with the QCESR panel.

The verbal feedback provided to the leadership team was both positive and affirming highlighting the strong sense of community and commitment to student wellbeing and learning evident across our school. I look forward to sharing some of the key highlights with our community once I have received the formal CEWA report and met with the Director of Catholic Education.

Wellbeing Week

Next week is Wellbeing Week for students and staff at St Denis. Our Wellbeing Team Mrs Quartermaine, Miss Tuohy, Mrs White, Mrs Carter and Mrs Romani have planned a range of wonderful activities and events each day giving everyone something special to look forward to throughout the week.

As a team we meet fortnightly to monitor and strengthen wellbeing practices across the school including our Kimochis, Berry Street and Friendology programs. We have also worked closely with the CEWA Wellbeing Team and value the feedback provided by our students as we continue to support the social and emotional wellbeing of all members of our community.

Reporting Evening

Save the Date – Monday 15 June, 3:30pm

With Semester Reports approaching we will be holding a parent information evening for Pre-Primary and Year 1 families as well as any parents wishing to gain a deeper understanding of our formal reporting process.

There are some minor changes this year in line with CEWA directives and we warmly invite parents to attend. The session is particularly beneficial for families receiving a formal report for the first time as we will explain the grading process and what achievement levels mean in relation to the SCSA curriculum.

Please RSVP to the information session via this link. Please note that Assistant Principals are available to supervise students listed on the RSVP form who are of school age and currently enrolled at St Denis School. For those parents unable to attend, some information will be sent out after the meeting.

REPORTING INFORMATION SESSION : Monday 15 June 3:30-4:00pm – Fill in form

EDU-TECH Conference

In two weeks’, time I will be attending the EDU-TECH Conference alongside Principals from similar CEWA schools. EDU-TECH is one of Australia’s leading educational conferences bringing together leaders to explore current research, innovative practices and emerging technologies in education.

I look forward to learning more about contemporary approaches to teaching and learning, student wellbeing, leadership and the purposeful use of technology in schools. It will be a valuable opportunity to gather ideas and strategies that can continue to strengthen learning experiences at St Denis which I look forward to sharing with staff and our school community on my return.

New Website Coming Soon!

The Leadership Team is excited to announce that our brand-new St Denis website will be live in the coming days!

A sincere thank you to the Catholic School Advisory Council for their valuable input and feedback throughout the design process.

Some exciting features of the new website will include a quick and easy absentee link for families and a ‘live’ Outlook calendar that parents will be able to subscribe to, helping everyone stay connected and informed about upcoming events and important dates.

Stay tuned! We look forward to sharing it with our community very soon!

Have a wonderful fortnight, everyone.

CSPWA AGM

Catholic School Parents WA invites all members to play an active part in guiding our work by submitting any motions for consideration at the upcoming AGM on 23rd June 2026. We also encourage you to consider nominating for the CSPWA Board, or perhaps to nominate someone whose commitment and perspective would strengthen our mission of supporting families in Catholic education across Western Australia. Your involvement ensures our parent voice remains strong, representative, and future focused.
