Celebrating 70 Years of Bulli High School – Our Bulli Legacy Project
We are thrilled to announce that Bulli High School has received a generous grant from the IMB Bank Community Foundation to create our very own Bulli Legacy Project!
This exciting initiative will create a living museum of our school's history throughout the school, celebrating the people, stories, achievements and milestones that have shaped Bulli High School over the past 70 years. The project will bring our history to life, creating opportunities for students, staff and visitors to explore our past while building a lasting connection between past, present and future generations.
We are looking forward to sharing the Bulli Legacy Project with our community as part of our 70th Anniversary Open Day on Friday 27 November.
We warmly invite all past and present students, staff, families and community members to join us for this special celebration. We would love to see as many familiar faces as possible, reconnect, share memories and enjoy the festivities together.
A huge thank you to the IMB Bank Community Foundation for supporting this wonderful initiative and helping us preserve and celebrate the history of Bulli High School.
We can't wait to welcome everyone back to Bulli High School to celebrate 70 years of memories, achievements and community!
Energy Drinks – A Reminder for Students and Families
We have noticed an increasing number of students bringing energy drinks to school or purchasing them on their way to school. We would like to remind families that energy drinks are not permitted at Bulli High School.
While energy drinks are often marketed as a way to boost energy and concentration, they can have significant negative effects on the health and wellbeing of young people. Many contain high levels of caffeine and other stimulants, which are not recommended for children and adolescents.
Some of the potential health impacts include:
Increased heart rate and blood pressure, which can place unnecessary stress on the body.
Anxiety, irritability and restlessness, making it more difficult for students to regulate their emotions and concentrate in class.
Disrupted sleep patterns, leading to tiredness, reduced concentration and difficulty learning
Headaches, nausea and dehydration, particularly when combined with physical activity.
High sugar content, which can contribute to dental problems and other health concerns.
Ironically, while students may consume these drinks to feel more alert, they can actually have the opposite effect, contributing to poor sleep, fatigue and reduced concentration throughout the school day.
We ask parents and carers to support us by having conversations with their children about the risks associated with energy drinks and encouraging healthier alternatives. Water, a nutritious breakfast and adequate sleep are far better ways to support energy, concentration and learning.
Energy drinks should not be brought onto school grounds and will be confiscated if students are found with them.
Year 10 Mock Interviews
Last week, our Year 10 students participated in mock interviews, providing a valuable opportunity to develop their interview skills, build confidence and prepare for future employment opportunities.
A big thank you to our wonderful community volunteers who generously gave their time to interview students and provide constructive feedback. We also thank the staff involved in organising and supporting this valuable experience.
Well done to our Year 10 students for embracing the opportunity and representing Bulli High School so positively!
Keeping Our Young People Safe Online – Cybermarvel
Helping our young people stay safe online is more important than ever. We encourage parents and carers to explore Cybermarvel, a NSW Department of Education initiative providing practical advice and resources to support online safety and digital wellbeing.
From social media and cyberbullying to online gaming, privacy and screen time, there are many challenges for families to navigate.
The following resources provide valuable information and guidance:
We encourage families to have regular conversations with their children about their online experiences, respectful behaviour and making safe choices.
Online safety is a shared responsibility, and together we can help our young people become confident, responsible and safe digital citizens.
Celebrating World Teachers' Day – Friday 30 October
Tomorrow we celebrate World Teachers' Day, a wonderful opportunity to recognise and thank the dedicated teachers at Bulli High School.
Every day, our teachers go above and beyond to support, inspire and challenge our students. Their work extends well beyond the classroom, from creating engaging learning experiences and supporting student wellbeing to celebrating achievements and helping young people reach their potential.
Teaching is so much more than delivering lessons. It is about building relationships, encouraging curiosity, creating opportunities and making a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
Tomorrow morning, our senior executive team will be firing up the BBQ to treat our teachers to a bacon and egg roll as a small token of our appreciation.
To all our wonderful teachers, thank you! Your passion, commitment and care make Bulli High School such a great place to learn and belong. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated team.
Happy World Teachers' Day!

Science Newsletter
Term 4 is always a busy term for exams and assessments.
Year 7 to Year 10 students are working hard to finish off their Yearly examinations this term. Students are encouraged to refer to the assessment notification that was issued to them during class and to follow the explicit instructions outlined in the notification to prepare for the task.
During Science classes, students will be taken through revision content and techniques to empower them for their upcoming assessment.
In order to further prepare for the upcoming examinations, students are encouraged to develop concept maps that outline and link the subtopics within the overarching topic.
The examination period for our junior years is as follows
• The Year 7 Semester two Examination on the focus areas Cells and Classification, Solutions and
Mixtures is scheduled for Friday week 5 - 13th November.
• The Year 8 Semester Two Examination on the strand Chemical World is scheduled for dates
Thursday and Friday week 5 -12th & 13th November.
• The Year 9 Semester Two Examination is on the focus areas Materials and Environmental
Sustainability is scheduled for Thursday week 4- 5th November.
• The Year 10 Semester Two Examination on the strand Earth and Space is scheduled for
Thursday and Friday week 4- 5th and 6th November.
Examinations will be completed during timetabled Science lessons. Students are to ask their teacher if they are unsure of any coursework.
They must bring all equipment such as pens, pencils, ruler, eraser and calculator.
VALID Assessment
This week, Year 8 students sat the NSW online Science examination, Validation of Assessment for Learning and Individual Development (VALID). This assessment can be used as a diagnostic tool to assist in improving student outcomes in science and as a tool for program evaluation.
The test is linked to the science syllabuses and assesses what students know and can do in science. It also provides useful information about student attitudes towards science. Results of the examination will be available during Term 1, 2027.
The photos below are of Year 7 Students doing experimental work on air pressure. The crushed can experiment investigates air pressure and temperature changes.
When a heated can filled with a small amount of water is quickly inverted into cold water, the sudden cooling causes the water vapor inside to condense, creating a vacuum. The greater external air pressure then crushes the can.

Year 10 Mock Interview Day Success
🌟 Year 10 Mock Interview Day Success! 🌟
Congratulations to our Year 10 students on a successful Mock Interview Day at Bulli High School!
From choosing a job vacancy and preparing a résumé and cover letter to attending an interview, students gained valuable experience of the job application process. It was a wonderful opportunity to practice communicating their strengths, interests and achievements while building confidence for future employment.
A big thank you to our interviewers (listed below) for sharing their time and expertise, and to the staff who supported students with their preparation and helped make the day a success.
Well done, Year 10, on taking this important step towards life beyond school!

Help Honour the Legacy of Bulli High School
As Bulli High School celebrates its 70th year, we are proud to launch a lasting project to permanently name selected school buildings and significant spaces in honour of individuals whose legacy continues to inspire future generations.
This project recognises outstanding staff, alumni and community members whose service, leadership, achievements and enduring commitment have made a lasting impact on Bulli High School.
Honouring those who have shaped our school is already part of our history. Our gymnasium proudly bears the name Kerryn McCann Gymnasium, recognising Bulli High School alumna Kerryn McCann – a three-time Olympian and two-time Commonwealth Games marathon gold medallist - whose courage, humility and sporting achievements continue to inspire our community.
Now, as we celebrate 70 years of Bulli High School, we have the opportunity to recognise more of the remarkable people whose contributions have helped shape our school's story.
We invite students, staff, alumni and members of our wider community to nominate individuals they believe deserve this lasting recognition.

U14 & U16 Rugby League Showcase
Yesterday Picton High School travelled down to take on our U14 and U16 Boys Rugby League teams on the Bulli High School back oval.
It was fantastic to host competitive rugby league games on our back field for the first time in several years. Thanks to the efforts of our staff, players and student spectators, the day was a huge success and a great celebration of school sport.
Our U14 boys faced an extremely strong Picton side and ultimately went down in a tough, hard-fought contest.
The U16 boys finished their strong year on a high, delivering another impressive performance to secure the win against a physical opponent.
A big thank you to Picton High School for making the trip down and helping create a fantastic day of rugby league.
Both games were played in tremendous spirit, showcasing the sportsmanship, competitiveness and passion we love to see in school sport.
We look forward to welcoming Picton back next year and doing it all again!
