St Anthony's School News

Week 7 - Thursday 29th August 2024
Principal's Message
Sacred heart of Jesus, ever present in our lives, hear our prayer for our Year 4 students
God, giver of all life, human and divine,
bless the fathers and male carers of our children.
Help them to fulfil their role as the first teachers
of their children in the ways of faith.
May they be also the best of teachers,
bearing witness to the faith by what they say and do.
We make this prayer through Christ Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
We wish all the fathers, grandfathers and male carers in our community a very happy Father’s Day this Sunday.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to all our Year 4 students who received the Sacrament of First Communion over the past two weekends. We hope and pray that you will continue to receive this sacrament when you attend mass both at school and when attending mass on the weekends.
Parents please remember that those students need to attend one mass over the coming weekend to receive their First Communion certificate.
15 MINUTE PARKING ZONE
After many years of appeal to the City of Wanneroo we were gifted with five 15 minute parking bays outside the Admin block earlier this year. These bays are for the benefit of parents who need to drop off or pick up students within class hours and/or deliveries to the school. Unfortunately, and not for the first time, we had cars parked for at least 1.5 hours in these bays last Thursday and had discussions with the Council ranger.
Please be aware that the ranger will be monitoring parking in these bays and may issue fines for cars that overstay the 15 min time limit. This includes those parents who arrive well before the final bell and wait in these bays for their children rather than parking in the church car park or over the road in the council carpark.
In anticipation of your cooperation - thank you.
UNIFORM
As we are half way through Term 3, it is time to dust off each child’s summer uniform before they return in Term 4. If your child needs a new uniform, the uniform shop is open on Wednesday mornings this term and Friday mornings next term and will happily fit your child for a new uniform.
Please remember that all children will be required to be dressed in the new uniform from the start of the 2025 school year.
Old uniforms in reasonable condition can be handed into the Uniform Shop where they can be sold to existing families and you will receive a credit on your uniform shop account or they will be donated to charities working with communities in Africa and Asia.

Vision Statement
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
Youth Services Survey
City of Wanneroo Youth Services Survey is now live.
Youth, parents, caregivers and the wider community are invited to have a say on Youth Services within the City of Wanneroo.
The ideas and feedback will inform what’s on offer for 9-24 year-olds in the City of Wanneroo.
Children younger than 14 years of age will require parental consent.
Click on the button below to complete the survey which is open until Sunday, 8 September 2024.
School Code of Conduct
A reminder that every member of the St Anthony’s School community must behave in the manner described in our Code of Conduct.
Our Code is like the 40km/h speed limit outside our school in the mornings and afternoons. It defines behaviours that keep our students safe: at school, and elsewhere. Children and young people surrounded by adult and peer behaviours as outlined in the Code are more likely to recognise and choose healthy relationships for themselves.
Conduct Statements
- You act safely and competently.
- You give priority to students’ safety and well-being in all your behaviour and decision making.
- You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.
- You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relationship with the school community.
- You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the school community.
- You treat personal information about members of the school community as private and confidential.
- You give impartial, honest and accurate information about the education, safety and well-being of students.
- You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.
- You promote and preserve the trust and privilege inherent in your relationship with all members of the school community.
- You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.
- You act reflectively and ethically.
- You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and well-being
The Code describes the minimum requirements expected of all members of our community and that all in our community conduct themselves personally and professionally in a way that maintains public trust and confidence in our school and the Church. While mandatory language such as ‘must’, ‘shall’ and ‘will’ is not used throughout the Code, there is a presumption the conduct described is mandatory and therefore not optional.
Medical News
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have had a significant increase of absentees and illnesses through our school community over the first three weeks of this term.
If your child is not well – sore throat, fever, persistent cough and/or an upset stomach – please keep them at home until all symptoms have resolved. Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without medication, prior to returning to school. Your child may want to continue coming to school; however, this will only spread viruses/illnesses to other students and staff. Please continue to remind your children to practice good hand hygiene and etiquette.
Our school medical illness protocol is below. Please refer to this regarding your child’s medical condition.
Thank you for your support in keeping our school community safe and well.
Warmest wishes,
Aleisha Raby
School Nurse
P&F News
The P&F are holding a bake sale the morning of the Faction Carnival on Friday 6th September.
We are looking for donations of baked goods to be sold on the day. All donations need to be NUT FREE and brought to the canteen Thursday morning, 5th September.
Volunteers are also needed on the day to help run the stall. Shifts are short, just 20 minutes and we require 2 to 3 people each time slot. The stall will only run if we have enough volunteers, so PLEASE help if you can. The stall will be open from 8:00am to 9:40am so we can all spend most of the day seeing our kids participate in the carnival.
Lastly, Woolworths in Carramar kindly donated a gift card to the P&F. We will select a range of baked goods including some gluten free options for our Bake Sale.
If you can donate a baked good or help run the stall on the day, please click the below link.
Many thanks for your support
