Hello Families!

Happy end of Week 1! We have so much to celebrate as we kick off the new school year! We are proud of many of our accomplishments but want to take another opportunity to highlight that Jungman STEM Magnet School has officially met the criteria to become a Nationally Certified-Demonstration Magnet School by Magnet Schools of America! A massive thank you to Ms. McKittrick and Ms. Tobiason for their stellar work with our STEM Program. Their dedication, creativity, and tireless effort continue to make our school an exceptional place for our students to learn and grow. Please join us in congratulating them!

Attendance High Notes: Our daily average attendance hit 97% this week! Also exciting news: students who were chronically absent last year (missing 18+ days and present less than 90% of the time) achieved 94% attendance this week. While we still have work to do, that is a HUGE improvement. Timeliness is also improving. On Wednesday, we had 17 students tardy (arriving after 7:55 AM); by today, that number dropped to just 5 students! THIS IS OUTSTANDING!

Keep up the amazing work getting your children to school on time every day!

Family Engagement & Volunteer Programs Family Engagement & Volunteer Programs

We are launching a pilot program this year to help boost family engagement and motivate support for our school community. Applications for interested parents/guardians are due by Friday, September 4, 2026. Admin will review applications and reach out to families the following week. To best serve different developmental stages, we are introducing two distinct models across our grade levels:

Room Parent Pilot Program (Grades K–5)

The Room Parent pilot program for the upcoming school year will focus exclusively on Grades K–5. Up to two approved volunteers per classroom will serve as the primary liaisons connecting teachers, families, and TEAM.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Monthly Birthday Celebrations: Plan and help host once/month birthday celebrations after discussing specifics and guidelines with the teacher.

  • TEAM & Family Liaison: Act as a communication link to share TEAM fundraising initiatives, community events, and updates with rostered class families via email, text, or hard copy.

  • Staff Appreciation: Help coordinate class communications and parent involvement for Staff Appreciation Week.

  • Attend 2 meetings with School Administration

  • Must be an approved Level 2 Volunteer

Community Liaison Program (PreK & Grades 6–8)

To keep expectations manageable while ensuring strong connections across all grade levels, PreK and Middle School (Grades 6–8) will utilize a Community Liaison model. Up to 1–2 approved volunteers per grade band will serve as the primary link connecting families, classroom news, and broader school initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • School & Family Outreach: Share important updates regarding school events, family gatherings, and spirit initiatives with families via email, text, or hard copy.

  • Fundraising Support: Pass along official school-wide and TEAM fundraising news and collection details to keep families informed on how to support the school.

  • Attend 2 meetings with School Administration
  • Must be an approved Level 2 Volunteer

After Care Programming After Care Programming

We’re excited to continue offering our After-Care program to support working families, with some important updates to help keep the program sustainable and affordable. This year, we will continue with a tuition-based model to help cover staff and supply costs.

  • The program will run daily from 2:45 PM to 4:30 PM

  • All program fees will be collected on a semester basis (twice per year).

  • All fees must be paid in full prior to the start of each semester or before a student may begin participating in the program.

  • Any outstanding balances from the previous school year must also be paid in full before your child can enroll or participate in the SY26 program.

Please note that students must be able to work independently, and consistent behavior issues may result in removal from the program.

Keep in mind, you need to 2 things for students to be able to stay:

1. Fill out the Registration Form for each student

2. Pay the $285.00 fee BEFORE your child(ren) start staying in the program. You can pay via Aspen Parent Portal or by cash.
