Principal's Message
Hello, Families,
π There is NO SCHOOL for students this Monday, October 20th. π
Enjoy your three-day weekend!
Skate Party Tonight! Have fun at this evening's (Friday's) PTA Skate Party! Please see below in the PTA section for more details.
Conference Update: Thank you to everyone who attended Parent Teacher conferences. 83% of our students had a family member who participated. We can't wait to see what that percentage is in winter conferences that will take place February 26th and March 5th!
Staff to Staff Shout Out!
"Thank you, Mrs. Gray, for being such a wealth of knowledge and for being such a phenomenal reading teacher for all our students!" - Charlotte Dial, school psychologist
Practice Drill: Today we had a secure drill. During a secure drill, all students and staff remain inside the building while normal activities continue. This type of drill helps us prepare in case there is a situation outside the school that requires us to keep everyone safely inside.
This Week's Questions Around the Dinner Table:
- What is one goal you have as a student in the next grading period?
- Have you looked at the lost and found to see if any of your things are there?
Have a great weekend,
Sharon Suriano
Principal
Kindergarten Readers Are Poppin'!
Kindergartners wrapped up their "5 Senses" reading unit with popcorn to remember all of they have learned.
Essential Question: How do our senses help us learn?
In the Wit and Wisdom unit βThe Five Senses,β students learned how our senses help us explore, understand, and describe the world. Through reading books such as My Five Senses by Aliki, as well as Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault, students discovered how sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch work together to help us learn about the world. They learned to ask and answer questions about key details, described observations using sensory words, and expressed their ideas through drawing and shared writing. Students also studied artworks that show people using their senses and practiced using evidence from texts and images to explain their thinking.
