October 2nd is Custodian Appreciation Day!
When you pass one of our custodians in your building, take a moment to stop and say thank you for all that they do for our students and our schools!
Our Special Services Did Not Take the Summer Off
The Special Services Department was excited to welcome our students and families back for another wonderful school year! Our dedicated team—including teachers, paraeducators, social workers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and teacher consultants—have enjoyed reconnecting with students, building relationships, and supporting each child’s unique strengths and needs. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside families, educators, and our school community to help every student feel welcomed, supported, and ready to learn. We are so excited that everyone is back for another year of growth, connection, and success!
In July, the Special Services Department proudly teamed up with the Port Huron Yacht Club for Set Sail for Autism and More, a memorable day filled with adventure, inclusion, and community spirit! Ten students had the opportunity to race along the St. Clair River with the crews of the Port Huron Yacht Club, while family members cheered them on from aboard the Huron Lady Cruise Ship. Following the race, students and families gathered for a fun-filled cookout, where race awards were presented and everyone had a chance to celebrate the day’s accomplishments. The excitement continued as Set Sail for Autism and More and the Port Huron Yacht Club proudly took center stage as Grand Marshals of the Rotary Parade! The Special Services Department was honored to be part of such a wonderful event and is already looking forward to setting sail again next summer!
Our Middle School Students Take the Field
Last Friday, September 25th, the half time show under the friday night lights at Memorial Stadium had a bigger band, a bigger sound, and a few more band parents in the stands! The Red Hawk Marching Machine invited our 7th and 8th grade band students from Central and Holland Woods Middle Schools to perform 2 songs with them on the field during the PHHS vs L'Anse Creuse varsity football game.
Our future Marching Machine members also had fun in the stands as a pep band, giving our hometown crowd some great entertainment to dance and cheer along with. Thank you to the Red Hawks Marching Machine, Mr. Lee, Mr. Polio, Mr. Rosenau, and all the staff and parents who helped make this wonderful opportunity happen for our students!
From kitchen to classroom, our Port Huron Schools staff is committed to empowering students with the energy they need to excel.
