What an OUTSTANDING First Week!!
Mother Nature tried her best to shake us up, but we are Brickies, we adjust and keep going! We have had a great week! It has been great seeing all the smiling faces filling up the halls again! Thank you for everyone who made it to Meet the Teacher Night!
Students were busy this week learning procedures and routines while adjusting to being back in school. You can ask them all about the things they have learned and even have them show you some of the Student PD. Ms. Kreag and Mrs. Caddick started to go around to all classrooms on Friday to go over the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct and will finish this up next week.
- 8/19 - Picture Day
- 8/28 - Fun Factor Day - National Bow Tie Day (Wear a Bow Tie or Bows in your hair)

Caught Being Excellent On Purpose!
Arrival and Dissmissal Procedures
Car Riders
- Car riders are dropped off/picked up in the back of the school and enter/exit Door 11
- Parents need to stay in the car line and pull around the circle as directed by the superviosors when dropping off and picking up students.
- If you would like to park, you will need to park in Lot C (The Fenced Lot in back) and walk your student to the sidewalk. Parents walk students to the loading doc road and students walk to the Door 11 from there.
- Parents should NOT park in Lot A (front lot) and walk/pick up students at the door. This is where our buses pull through and creates a dangerous situation if parked there.
- Door 11 will remain open till 8:55, after that please walk to the front, Door 1
Walkers
- Students who walk to school should enter Door 7 (the same door as bus riders)
- Door 7 will remain open until 8:45, if it is after this time please come to the front, Door 1
Changes to End of the Day Transportation
Please do not email the teacher throughout the day with end of the day changes to transportation. You will need to call the main office to make any changes to ensure that both the teacher and your student get the information. All changes must be done prior to 1:30 pm unless it is an emergency situation. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

As we start school, it is important for the safety of our children to be aware of our school buses.
The stop arm and blinking lights mean “STOP”. To disregard the stop arm is a misdemeanor and mandatory court appearance. The Hobart Police Department has shared that law allows the police to use the bus driver’s observations to issue a citation to the registered owner of the vehicle.
Our ultimate goal is a safe commute for children to and from school.
Communication
Every Friday you will receive a weekly newsletter. This is the school's way of communicating important events and sharing all of the fun from the week.
We will also utilize ParentSquare and our Joan Martin Facebook page to communicate with you.

SMART Watches/Cell Phones
Important Information
We are having an increase in students texting on their SMART watches. This is against the Code of Conduct and Not allowed during the school day. Even if it is texting with parents. If students need to reach parents during the school day they can use the office phone. If parents need messages to get to their students during the school day please call the office and we will ensure the information is passed along. Teachers can ask for these to be turned off and put in backpacks if they become a disruption/distraction in the classroom.
