Principal Newsletter: October 2026 — Be Respectful, Wildcats!
Dear Wildcat Families,
October is here, and our campus is full of learning, connection, and plenty of Wildcat spirit! As we move into fall, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for continuing to make Altamont Creek such a special place to learn and grow.
This month, our Wildcat Focus is BE RESPECTFUL. Respect is at the heart of how we treat one another at school. We are encouraging our Wildcats to use kind words, listen when others are speaking, include others, take care of our school, and remember that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and welcomed.
At Altamont Creek, we talk often about the Wildcat Way: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Always Be Awesome! October gives us a wonderful opportunity to put those words into action.
Thank You for an Amazing FundRun!
A huge THANK YOU to our Wildcats, families, staff, and PTA for making this year’s FundRun such a fantastic success! Our students showed incredible energy and enthusiasm, and together we reached our fundraising goal! 🎉
We are so grateful for the generosity and support of our ACE community. Your contributions help provide meaningful experiences and opportunities for our students throughout the year. We couldn't do it without you!
Fall Conferences
We look forward to welcoming families on campus for fall conferences over these next two weeks. This is a wonderful time to connect with teachers, discuss student progress, and set goals together. Please remember we have early dismissal.
Walk & Roll to School Day – October 7
Join us in promoting healthy habits and safe routes to school by walking or rolling with your child on October 7. Let’s make it a community-wide event!
Celebrating Filipino American History Month
October is also Filipino American History Month, a time to learn about and celebrate the history, experiences, contributions, and accomplishments of Filipino Americans. Throughout the month, we encourage our students to learn about the many ways Filipino Americans have contributed to the history and culture of our country.
Filipino American history is an important part of American history, and we are proud to recognize and celebrate the diverse backgrounds and stories that make up our Wildcat community.
October is a busy month at ACE!
Our students will enjoy a variety of special experiences, including the Missoula Children’s Theatre, Walk & Roll to School Day, picture retakes, Spirit Assemblies, and our annual Halloween celebrations.
We will also celebrate Red Ribbon Week October 26–30. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about making healthy, safe, and responsible choices.
And, of course, we will end the month with some Wildcat Halloween fun! We hope to see many of our families at Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 30, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Thank you to our PTA and all of the families who help make these community events possible!
A Month of Respect
As we focus on being respectful, I encourage families to continue the conversation at home. Ask your child:
- What does respect look like at school?
- How can you show respect when you disagree with someone?
- What can you do if you notice someone feeling left out?
- How can your words make someone else feel?
- How can you show respect for our school and our community?
Small moments of kindness and respect can make a big difference.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a school community where every Wildcat feels a sense of belonging. I am continually grateful for the support, partnership, and positive energy our families bring to Altamont Creek.
Let's make it another PAW-some month, Wildcats!
With appreciation,
Andrea Tapia

Walk & Roll to School: Oct. 7th
Join Altamont Creek for International Walk and Roll to School Day! We will celebrate our school spirit, our health, and the environment with the Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools program. This year, our school will celebrate in-person at the schoolyard. With your family and friends, you can participate by:
· Taking a walk, or riding a bike, skateboard, or scooter
· Biking with your child on their own or with a trail-a-bike
· Taking the bus with your child and walking to and from the bus stop
· Joining a Walking School Bus or a Bike Train
Post a fun photo on social media to celebrate the day! Remember to tag @AlamedaCoSR2S on X/Twitter with #WalkandRoll25 and #IWR2SD, and post on Facebook at facebook.com/saferoutestoschool.
