Upon dismissal from school, students must leave the building and playground and are to go directly home except bus students who will be going to their respective buses. Students should not be sent to the office to wait for parent pick-up after dismissal time.

Private Zak Juelfs was the guest speaker at the Veteran's Day Program on Friday at PVE. PVT Juelfs is a Senior at Sturgis Brown High School. He has been on the varsity football team since his freshman year, and the varsity wrestling team since his 8th grade year, finishing as the runner up in state at 220 pounds his junior year.

Zak joined the South Dakota National Guard in January 2023 as a Heavy Equipment Operator (12November) with the 842nd Engineer Company in Spearfish, SD. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC, from June to August of this last summer, and will attend his Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO this upcoming summer.

PVT Juelfs spoke with the students about the importance of commitment to a team, and being part of "the greatest team in the world!" He reflected on his desire to serve his state and country, and fight for those who have gone before him, and all the kids who were part of the assembly today.

Grades kindergarten through 4th grade saluted our distinguished guests with patriotic selections including "Star Spangled Banner", "Oh, I Love America", "Battle Hymn of the Republic", "I Love My Country", "Pledge of Allegiance Rap", "Thank You Soldiers", & "Military Medley". The students were under the direction of K-4 music teacher Mrs. Anna Peachey.

To those who have served, we thank you this Veteran's Day and always, for fighting for our freedoms through your selfless service.
