Arrival and Dismissal Safety Reminders
Keeping our students safe each day is a top priority. All District families are expected to follow traffic supervisors’ directions and the traffic procedures outlined below every day.
- Do not cut in front of vehicles waiting in line.
- Do not drop off or pick up students on Crawford Avenue. This creates an unsafe situation, and vehicles may be ticketed. We have monitored our drop-off lines and found that the longest wait is only several minutes. Please use the assigned drop-off and pickup areas and follow the designated traffic pattern at all times.
- Students crossing at Pratt Avenue and East Prairie Road must walk down East Prairie Road and continue past the front of Rutledge Hall. Students should not walk down Pratt Avenue to access the traffic island in the parking lot, as this creates an unnecessary safety risk.
- Morse Avenue is closed to through traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Do not use this side street to bypass the traffic queue or cut ahead of cars waiting in line.
- At dismissal, do not park or wait for students on East Prairie Road adjacent to New Light Cemetery. Vehicles waiting in this area impede traffic flow and create unsafe conditions for students who may walk between cars, rather than at crosswalks, to reach them. Please use assigned pickup lines.
- At dismissal, do not park in staff parking lots. Students may need to walk through the parking lot to reach vehicles parked in these areas, creating unsafe situations as they navigate between moving and parked vehicles. Please use assigned pickup lines.
Alumni Connection Facebook Page
We are excited to share our new Facebook page, the Lincolnwood School District 74 Alumni Connection! This page allows SD74 alumni to stay connected with former classmates, friends, and the SD74 community; celebrate memories and milestones that keep the SD74 spirit strong; and share reunion information. We encourage you to follow us and invite others to connect with the page.

Halloween Classroom Party Volunteers - Sign-up Opens TONIGHT
The District plans three classroom parties every year to celebrate Halloween (Oct. 30), Winter Break (Dec. 18), and Valentine's Day (Feb. 12) at Todd Hall and Rutledge Hall. Sign-up periods for each party will be as follows:
- Halloween - Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. through Oct. 13 at 11:59 p.m.
- Winter Break - Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. through Dec. 1 at 11:59 p.m.
- Valentine’s Day - Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. through Feb. 2 at 11:59 p.m.
At the end of each sign-up period, the District will create a schedule of coverage for every classroom at both schools, ensuring that those who express interest are assigned to at least one party during the year.

Absences must be reported by 8:59 a.m. on the day of the absence. If you miss this cutoff, please contact the school office.
If your child will be leaving early or arriving late during the day, such as for a dentist appointment, be sure to categorize the absence as a partial-day absence.
If your child is leaving early, please provide the exact time of pickup in the 'Explanation' field, and also contact the school office.
Please include any information relevant to your student’s absence in the explanation box. Front office staff can see detailed notes.
