The Northeast News

It's a short, but action packed week as Northeast presents Homecoming 2026. Each day there will be spirit days (see flyer below), voting for Homecoming Court, a Pep Rally, and it all concludes with our Football Game against Austin Achieve on Friday, September 26th. We hope to see you there!

On the first day of each new week, students can earn a cold treat by showing that they had no absences and no tardies in the prior week. Students can show their Frontline attendance in the Hall of Fame concession stand.

School-wide, students are working on collaborative projects and showcasing their hard work throughout the halls. We love seeing these student anchors and exemplars!

AVID is working hard to showcase all the amazing things about their program. These students are college and career ready!

September (we won't say which year) brought us two amazing people and supervisors. We were happy to celebrate, our proud Principal, Mr. Neal, on his birthday. And we want to wish our always-supportive Executive Director, Ms. Manor, a very happy birthday.

In Raider football news, the team had a bumpy beginning in non-district play. However, we hope to turn things around with our homecoming game this Friday versus the Austin Achieve Polar Bears at Nelson Field. Game time is 7:30. Come support this dedicated group of young men who have been working diligently the last two months.

💝Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness, support one another, and remind students that they are never alone. We will have special announcements and resources shared during the week of September 22 to promote mental health and connect students with support.

🎉Senior Graduation Meetings: Sept. 16 – Oct. 16
Counselors will begin meeting with seniors individually starting September 16 through October 16 to review graduation progress, post-secondary plans, and answer any questions.

🌎National Hispanic Heritage Month: Sept. 15 – Oct. 15
Join us in celebrating the rich history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. Activities and spotlights will take place throughout the month!

🙋Orange Shirt Day – Sept. 30
We honor American Indian Heritage Day by recognizing Orange Shirt Day on September 30—a day to remember and reflect on the experiences of Indigenous children in residential schools and to affirm that every child matters.

We are looking for a parents to serve on our Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC). The LPAC helps make decisions about language support, accommodations, and reclassification for students. Parent voices are essential to ensure our programs meet the needs of families.

At the first meeting we chose our new CAC Board, discussed the future of the Northeast campus, and ideas to make this a great year. We appreciate all who attended.

Staff, students, families, community members, please feel free to come by our meetings for information and some lively discussions (or for some snacks). The next meeting is 10/20.

We welcome all parents, guardians, staff, and community members to attend the monthly CAC meetings. This is an opportunity to hear about the great things happening at Northeast, as well as, to come together to discuss any areas of growth or support needed.

Austin Voices held a luncheon at Northeast to discuss the Saint John's St. John's Community School Alliance/Promise Neighborhood. There were many community partners and Board Members in attendance to discuss best ways to support the community schools. There was also a special guest speaker, Eleni, who discussed what this community and Northeast schools have meant to her. Great job!
