A Message from Principal Woofter
We are in the home stretch of the 24-25 school year! There is a full week of exciting activities happening next week that will conclude with our Field Day on Friday, June 6!
On an exciting note, we concluded our Canned Food Drive for Willowbrook Food Pantry last week! With the food and money donations, we were able to meet our goal of donating approximately 650 pounds of food. A special thank you to our Eagle Ambassadors who helped collect and organize the donations each afternoon. They also assisted in loading the boxes so we could take them to Willowbrook. This was an amazing opportunity for our school to come together and give back to our community!
It has been an incredible school year and we look forward to ending the year strong!
Kindly,
Sarah

Nutrition Services - Upcoming Changes to School Milk Options
As part of upcoming updates to federal nutrition standars, the USDA is introducing new regulations that limit the amount of added sugars allowed in school meals. In allignment with these guidelines, our district will be implementing some adjustments to our menus, including updates to our milk offerings beginning next school year.
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, chocolate milk will be offered at lunch on Fridays. ONall other school days, students will contine to have two choices available at both breakfast and lunch : 1% white milk and skim white milk.
These updates are designed to support the health and well-being of all students. To learn more about the USDA's updated nutrition standards, please visit their website at www.fns.usda.gov.

A Legendary Farewell: Bruce Maplethorpe Retires After 53 Years of Service!
After more than five decades behind the wheel, Bruce Maplethorpe, Sherwood School District’s longest-serving employee and beloved bus driver, is taking his final ride. Bruce began his incredible journey in 1972—as a senior in high school—when he was asked to help by picking up students and bringing them to school. That one-time favor turned into a remarkable 53-year career of dedication, care, and community spirit.
Let’s put this into perspective:
- 750,000+ miles driven – That’s over three times the distance to the moon!
- Over 1 million student rides safely delivered to and from school.
- A lifetime of commitment to the students and families of Sherwood.
Bruce has truly been the heartbeat of our transportation team, always showing up with a warm smile and unwavering reliability. His legacy is one of kindness, consistency, and quiet heroism.
As he prepares for retirement, we invite you to help us celebrate this living legend! Share your memories, kind words, or fun stories by emailing transport@sherwood.k12.or.us. We’ll make sure Bruce receives every note before his final day on June 10th. Let’s send him off with the love and recognition he so deeply deserves.
