WISE WORDS OCTOBER 2026
A Letter From the Principals
Dear School Community,
As we welcome the month of October, we are excited to embrace all that this wonderful season brings! The changing leaves, cooler days, and excitement in the air remind us that there is so much to look forward to as a school community.
We have had many fun and meaningful activities in October, including Trunk or Treat and our Loose Change & Lollipop Service Project. These events give our students opportunities to have fun, build friendships, and, most importantly, learn the value of kindness, generosity, and giving back to others.
As we move through the fall, we also want to encourage families to continue making time for learning and connection at home. Please make reading at home each night a part of your family routine. Even a few minutes of reading together can make a meaningful difference. Ask your children about what they are reading, what they learned, and what they think about the story.
And just as importantly, talk with one another at home. Ask about their day. Share stories. Laugh together. Talk about things that are important to your family. These everyday moments of conversation help children feel connected, supported, and confident.
Because learning doesn't only happen in the classroom — it starts at home. ❤️
We are grateful for the partnership between our school and our families. Together, we can make this fall a season filled with learning, kindness, connection, and plenty of fun!
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. We look forward to all that is ahead!

First Service Project of the School Year!
ROSSI OWLS LOVE HELPING THE COMMUNITY
Each September, Rossi Elementary School proudly hosts a donation drive to support the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter. This year, our generous students and staff came together to donate an entire van load of toys, food, and other much needed supplies to help care for the animals at the shelter. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make this community service project a success!
MEET HOOTIE!
Meet Our 2026–27 Hooties!
We are so excited to introduce our Hooties for the 2026–27 school year — Cameron Owens, Eli Figueroa, and Da’Riyah Dawkins!
These three Owls will be helping bring our Rossi spirit to life and representing what it means to be a Rossi Owl! From spreading school spirit to cheering on their classmates, we know they are going to do an amazing job!
Congratulations, Cameron, Eli, and Da’Riyah! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see all the fun and Owl pride you bring to Rossi this year!
Hoot Hoot!
CAUGHT BEING GOOD
FIRST WISE WINNERS OF THE YEAR!
Rossi Owls were awarded their first WISE write ups and shirts for the year! Responsibility was the trait that was introduced previously and all of the “most responsible” students were given a mint WISE shirt as their award! Jane Bassetti was our WISE GUY for Responsibility! Ms. Tara Garder, owner of Berry Chill in Vineland, was our Superhero to introduce the trait of Honesty and Communication! She is such an inspiration to all. She showed the children how to communicate with sign language and to always choose to be honest. Tara is such a hero in the community and we are blessed that we had her to communicate her strengths to our school family. Students will strive this month to be HONEST! Great job Rossi Owsl!😄
Special Moments with Special People 💙🦉
Our Grandparent Lunches were filled with so many smiles, hugs, laughter, and sweet memories! 🥰
Our Rossi Owls had the sweetest time sharing lunch and making special memories with their grandparents and loved ones. We loved seeing all of the joy and excitement throughout the week! 💙
Our Owls also had the chance to visit our Book Fair and pick out some new books to take home! 📚✨ There was nothing quite like having lunch with someone you loved and leaving with a new book in your hands! ❤️
We were so grateful to all of our grandparents and loved ones who took time out of their day to join us and make these moments so special for our Rossi Owls. 🦉💙
Grandparent Lunches were truly filled with love, family, and memories that our Owls will treasure! ❤️🍎
Breast Cancer Awareness
Our Rossi staff proudly wore pink for our district-wide Pink Out Day in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Together, we stand in support of those fighting breast cancer, survivors, and the families impacted.
💙ROSSI TURN OVER CHAIN💙
At our recent staff meeting, Mrs. P proudly passed the Rossi Turnover Chain to Ms. Deanna Soto! Congratulations, Ms. Soto, and thank you for all you do for our Rossi Owls! We love celebrating the amazing staff members who make Rossi such a special place!
FUN ON THE FARM!
Kindergarten went to Coombs Barnyard in Elmer for our field trip. Students enjoyed a tractor ride, a farm animal petting zoo, picked a pumpkin, played in the indoor play town, took a barrel train ride and enjoyed the brand new outdoor playground. Everyone agreed it was the best day ever!
WISE SPIRIT DAY-ROCK OUT FOR HONESTY
Our Rossi Owls ROCKED OUT for HONESTY on October 21st!
Our Owls showed us what it means to be honest! Honesty is one of our Portrait of a Graduate competencies, and we are proud to see our students learning the importance of telling the truth, making good choices, and doing the right thing—even when no one is watching!
At Rossi, we’re not just growing great minds; we’re building character, too!
TRUNK OR TREAT!
Rossi’s Trunk or Treat was a SPOOKTACULAR success!
Our Rossi Owls had a blast enjoying all the Halloween fun! From the creative trunks to the costumes, candy, and smiles, it was a night filled with school spirit, creativity, and community. We were blown away by the amazing effort and imagination that went into so many of the trunks! Our staff truly outdid themselves with their creativity, and it was wonderful to see so many unique and festive displays!
A huge congratulations to our Top 3 Trunk Winners!
