Principal's Message
May has arrived and it appears the warm weather is coming! Albeit a bit later than we had hoped, the main thing is that it is on its way. This month, the many events are already making school a busy place. From field trips to track and field meets, there are a wide variety of activities happening in May. As expected, it is a bit of a sprint to the finish for a variety of reasons. I hope everyone is able to enjoy some sunshine every day!
To update everyone on our current staffing, we are pleased to welcome back Ms. Sveahun. We are thankful to have Mrs. Coutts and Mrs. Walker helping us for a few weeks while we await the arrival of our new teacher, Miss Marissa de Hoog. She is scheduled to start on May 11, 2026. She will be replacing Mrs. Bauer, who is now on leave.
Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year in Battle River officially opened on Feb. 2, 2026. We encourage parents to register their children at their earliest convenience, as this is a key component in our planning process. We will be hosting our annual Success Starts Early (SSE) Event on Wed., May 22 in the afternoon. Registration in advance for this event is required. Our Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Bartlett has reached out to those who would be on our projected list. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our school office.
Our planning for next school year is well on its way. This is a process that increases over time as more information becomes available. Battle River School Division is projecting a $3.14 million deficit and we have been told that our assigned teacher time could be as much as 1.3 fte less than we currently have. All schools in BRSD are facing cuts to assigned teacher time. We are currently working with our Division Office and hope to have more information to share shortly. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher. Thank you, as parents, for all you do to support your child’s learning.
Mr. Anhorn
Principal, Forestburg School
School Volunteer Update
All field trip supervisors, coaches, and classroom volunteers must be approved as an Agent of the Board before participating in school activities. If you plan to volunteer, please contact Mr. Anhorn or Mrs. Freadrich to complete the required process. Thank you for your support!
Student Drop Off/Pick Up
For the safety of all students and staff, we kindly remind families that the staff parking lot is reserved for staff only. When dropping off or picking up your child before or after school, please park on the street rather than pulling into the staff lot.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep everyone safe!
