BWMS Family Update

BWMS Community,

It has been a fantastic week at BWMS with a lot of School Spirit. Special Thanks to our Student Council for planning great days. Now we finish off our Spirit Week with Fanatical Fan Day as well as the annual staff vs student basketball challenge and spring sports recognition pep rally this afternoon and who can forget the Advisory Dodgeball Championship.

Soon on to Spring Break. We wish much rest and relaxation to our students and families next week and look forward to a great finish to the 2023-24 School Year when we return.

• Looking to support our military-connected students in Big Walnut, check out the Purple Up information below.
  
• 3rd Quarter grades were posted online in PowerSchool on Wednesday 3/13/24.
  
• Scheduling sheets for next school year will now be sent home with 7th & 8th grade students on Monday 3/18/24 to communicate to families the course requests for next year. Please be sure to review and return with any necessary adjustments.
  
• Student council is planning the Staff vs Student Basketball Game and Spring Sports Recognition Pep Rally for Friday 3/22/24.
  
• The next schedule DC Payment is due to Prodigy Student Travel on Friday 3/22/24.
• Spring Break is 3/25/24 through 3/29/24. Students return to school on Tuesday 4/2/24.
• There is no school on Monday 4/1/24 in lieu of conference nights.
• BWMS School Counselor Mr. Watson and Officer Whiteside will be presenting to classes about online enticement, harassment and social media safety in the coming weeks. Please see the informational opt out form which is going home with students after break.
• There is no school on Monday 4/8/24 due to the Solar Eclipse.
• Friday 4/12/24 is grade update day for the 4th quarter.
  
• Ohio Military Sprit Week begins on Monday 4/15/24. See details below.
• Ohio State Tests will begin on Wednesday 4/17/24. See additional details below.

Ohio State Tests begin shortly after we return from Spring Breaks. Testing time can be stressful for students. No doubt, we understand that our students do deal with pressure when it comes to all types of performances from their everyday life: athletic or academic. No matter the situation, everyone can play a role in helping our students be confident and secure in the face of the upcoming weeks. We will continue to offer this calm voice of confidence for our students as they prepare for next week. You too can help by ensuring your student gets a good night's sleep, eats a good breakfast, charges their Chromebook and comes to BWMS with a smile. I am sure our kids will do great!

The testing schedule is below as OSTs will be in the morning followed by a modified 2 hour delay schedule for all classes.

• April 17 OST ELA Part 1 & April 18 OST ELA Part 2
  
• April 30 OST Math Part 1 & May 1 OST Math Part 2
  
• May 2 OST Science Part 1&2 (8th grade only)
