Message from Nicole Pease Principal
Hello DCS Families, the excitement has been building in the school with a variety of activities to celebrate the last week of reading The Wild Robot. As students arrived each day it was so fun to see them dressed in the Spirit Week Themes! Today, many students brought in their homemade projects and were so excited to share them with the staff and each other! It is so wonderful to imagine the family time planning and creating these beautiful works of art.
Justin Bentley-Melle was at DCS for our Art week which is always fun and creative!
Grades 3/4/5 held a poetry recital for their families. They all did a great job memorizing their poem and projecting their voices so all could hear.
The last Friday of the month brings our monthly Community Lunch. As always, it is so lovely to see families and friends having lunch together. This month we were joined by Neal Cass, ConVal Business Administrator. He enjoyed seeing all that was going on and the strong community we have at DCS.
As if that was not enough, Heather Fletcher kindly prepared an Wild Robot themed escape room for this afternoon. It is clear we work in an elementary school as students were asking questions about what to do if they had to go to the bathroom before they escaped! Precious!!
Please read below about the Grade 3/4/5 State Assessments coming in May.
I hope you all have a relaxing weekend, Nicole
DCS Art March 2025
DCS is preparing for their Very Hungry Caterpillar procession for this year's Children and the Arts parade. The students are designing friends, food, and flower sculptures to accompany the DCS giant caterpillar. This week they are focussing on form and structure. They will proceed to color, texture, and decor when I return in early May.
