Chalk the Walk becomes especially meaningful during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month because it gives middle schoolers a safe, creative way to promote hope, kindness, and connection. Students use sidewalk chalk to write supportive messages, draw uplifting images, and share positive reminders that everyone matters. These small acts of encouragement help create a school environment where students feel seen, valued, and less alone. By participating, students learn that words can make a difference, and that reaching out with kindness is one way to support mental health and show care for others.
