Bus Information for Families
2025-2026 Bus information
We recommend families whose students are eligible for General Education transportation to check their bus information by checking the district’s “Bus Stop Finder''. Families whose students have special needs will receive their information in person from their bus teams. *Please keep in mind routes and stops may change periodically.
“Where's TheBus” App for Families
AISD’s transportation team offers families the “WheresTheBus” app, which provides timely information about the location of their student’s assigned bus only, including when it will arrive at their stop. Please promote the app to your school communities.
The free app is available on any device with internet access (smartphone, tablet, personal computer, iPad)—and takes less than five minutes to install. Instructions are available at https://www.austinisd.org/transportation.
Student ID's Are in the Works!
Attendance Policy
Every Day Counts!
Attendance/Grades: Regular attendance in all classes is an expectation of all Austin ISD students. State law and District policy state that students must be in attendance for 90% of the instructional days for a class to receive credit. A student who misses more days than allowed by AISD policy, excused or unexcused, may not be given credit for that class unless time and/or work is made up for the absences. Students will work with the grade level administrator to complete the appropriate steps to reach compliance.
Parents: Making sure your student is in school and on time every day is the law. For more information visit the district's attendance page.
Tardies
● If a student arrives after 7:40a.m., they must report to the front office to sign in & receive a tardy pass to class.
Student Early Pick-Up Appointments
If you need to pick your child up for a doctor's appointment, do so by 2:30pm.
No pick ups after 2:30pm due to preparation for end of day dismissal. Thank you!
Notify your child's teacher in advance. Parents cannot call in advance to have students retrieved from class, so plan to arrive early.
Parents need to be prepared to provide driver’s license when signing a student out from school.
Make sure you get a school note from the doctor’s office. The doctor’s note must be reported to
School Absence Note / Nota sobra la ausencia | Austin ISD .

Information from our Instructional Coach
Austin ISD Draft School Consolidation & Boundary Change Plan
All Austin ISD families deserve to have excellent, well-resourced neighborhood schools. While this is true for some, we have fallen short in serving some of our most historically underserved students. To achieve this vision, we must work together to transform as a community, ensuring our resources allow all students to learn in a vibrant, well-resourced school.
The draft school consolidation and boundary change plan released on Friday brings us one step closer to that reality. This comprehensive plan also includes proposed transfer policy changes, program moves, accountability plans, and, for the first time in the history of Austin ISD, aligned feeder patterns. This work supports the development of a clearer academic framework and vision for education in Austin ISD.
This draft is a starting point, not a final solution. We will continue to engage with our community and refine the plan over the coming weeks as we move toward the November 20 board vote.
Districtwide Impact and Timeline
We know these changes will be felt across our district because this work is about improving outcomes and opportunities for more than 70,000 students.
The draft plan includes:
Boundary changes for 98% of schools
13 school building closures
1 program relocating to a new campus
6 schools repurposed for programming with no school zone.
To view the full draft plan, please visit the Austin ISD Consolidation website. This includes campus-based impacts and resources to review data that contributed to the proposal.

Austin ISD Honor Stories
Our teachers and staff are the heart of Austin ISD. Each and every one of us can think back to a teacher or staff member who has made a profound impact, shaping who we are and how we see the world in ways both big and small. The Austin ISD Office of Talent Strategy is committed to sharing these stories and celebrating the wonderful things you all are doing in our district.
If you are a current or former student, or the parent/caregiver on behalf of a student, we invite you to honor an AISD teacher or staff member by telling the story of the impact that they have had on you. After you submit, they will receive a copy of their Honor Story in an email as well as the opportunity to have their story published on our website.
