SEPTEMBER NEWS
🏫 Admin Corner: A Word of Motivation
There’s so much exciting learning and activity happening in our building — from creative projects in Art to hands-on experiences in Health — and we love seeing our students engaged and thriving!
We are incredibly proud of the many students who continue to show up in uniform, focused and engaged in learning. Your commitment reflects what makes Charette special: a community dedicated to growth, curiosity, and respect. That said, we are still seeing some students arrive out of uniform.
Reminder: Sweatpants are not part of this new school year. Students must wear khaki, navy blue, or black pants. No Denim.
Students who are out of uniform will meet with the Dean, and one of the following options will need to happen:
-
A parent/guardian brings the appropriate uniform to school,
-
The student goes home to change with parent/guardian permission, or
-
A parent/guardian purchases a replacement for the student and sends payment via Cash App or mobile pay.
Please note: students are missing valuable learning time when they are out of uniform.
Looking ahead, progress reports will be sent home on October 3rd — just days away! The first-term progress report is a great way to see how students are starting the school year, highlighting both strengths and areas to focus on early.
Read on in this newsletter to see all the exciting things happening across our school!

🌆 Learning Beyond the Classroom: Urban Planning
This week our 9th grade class took to the streets of Providence with Ms. Miller, Ms. Natali, and Ms. Jen for a walking tour exploring the architecture and history of our city. Highlights included the Superman Building, the Arcade, Grace Church, and PPAC.
Students also learned about the eight different colleges right here in Providence and how our city is known as the Jewelry District.
Experiences like this remind us of our mission at Charette: to connect students with the world around them, showing how history, culture, and opportunity shape the future they are building for themselves.
✌🏻🌍👆👆👆
This week in Art Class, students are creating world peace–themed masterpieces that showcase their creativity and global perspective.
In Health Class, our partnership with the URI EFNEP program continues! Students are learning all about nutrition and building healthy habits. This week, they even got hands-on in the kitchen, making delicious zucchini fritters from scratch.🥒👩🏻🍳👨🏻🍳
Special Visitors😁
We had several special visitors this week, including the RI League of Charter Public Schools. They toured classrooms, saw learning in action, and even interviewed members of our community. Their highlight video will be released in early November — save the date, it’s going to be beautiful!

Bridging Futures: Girls & Veterans Mentorship Program
This powerful program is designed to empower high school girls through mentorship, career exploration, and leadership development by connecting them with military veterans and women who work with Veterans. Mentors share their life experiences, discipline, and guidance to help students grow both personally and academically.
This year, we’re proud to have 10 juniors and seniors participating. Each Charette student is paired with a mentor from the Veterans Affairs office. Together, they’ll work on capstone projects, community service hours, and presentations about overcoming obstacles. Mentors are also guiding students in practical life skills (like changing a tire!), exploring career opportunities, and even helping with college essays. We’re excited to see what these mentor–mentee partnerships accomplish throughout the year. Be on the lookout for more updates and highlights from this inspiring program! Check out photos! 👇👇
