Cliff's Notes
Dear Bedford Public Schools Community,
Monday October 13th is Indigenous People's Day in Bedford. With the support of a Mass Cultural Council grant secured by Lane School teachers Rachel Orlovsky and Katie Maniatis, a local Indigenous artist, former Lane School student, and current JGMS educator, Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath painted a mural that is now hung in the Lane School lobby, featuring local flora, fauna, and waterways like the Shawsheen River, and honoring the land’s original Indigenous inhabitants. A land acknowledgment plaque will provide cultural and historical context. The mural will serve as a learning tool throughout the year, integrated into 3rd–5th grade science and literacy lessons on topics like pollination, adaptations, the water cycle, Solstices and Equinoxes, with outdoor activities such as scientific drawing and trail walks, connecting students to nature. This type of collaboration, creativity, and support of local talent/leadership exemplifies the diversity of educational experiences we seek to provide our students as we invest our resources as a community. Please enjoy the mural on your next visit to Lane School.
Best,
Cliff Chuang 莊 宏 毅

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Families living on base with students enrolled in Bedford High School have until Oct. 31 to complete and submit the 2025-2026 Federal Impact Aid Survey for federally connected students. Information gathered through the survey process determines Bedford’s eligibility for federal impact aid funding. The forms are confidential, and the information collected is available only to school and federal officials. Click here to read more.
Note that on October 1st, emails were sent to families via Docusign. Please help us identify all federally connected students whose families are Active-Duty Military, live on Hanscom AFB, OR work on federal facilities---including Hanscom AFB, Bedford VA, Boston VA, Lincoln Public School on HAFB, Lincoln Labs, Mitre and more! Our yearly survey is fully electronic with e-signature. It is very important that all surveys are completed and electronically signed for each student, as reimbursement is made for all eligible students on a per pupil basis. You may request a paper survey copy. We thank you very much for your assistance with this important annual survey. Please contact the Business Office with questions: (781) 275-7708.
