Reading Folders
I had a delay in order the Reading Folders, so they will be going home the 2nd week of November for those who receive Title Reading services! Inside you will find practice word lists, passages, etc. as well as a Reading Log.
See below what some of the examples of what will be inside!
Reading Log
Once students have a whole page with parent signatures, they get to choose something from my collection of prizes!
Examples of what you'll find in the reading folder:
Passages / Roll & Reads
These passages and dice "games" will connect directly with the phonics skills being taught in your child's reading group.
Every folder will have Passages and Roll & Reads for your child to practice reading at home to build their automaticity and fluency in reading.
Continuous Blending Words
These blending drills are helpful for students who need extra practice stretching sounds to read words. More and more practice with this will help them read the words more accurately and automatically!
Pyramid / Stacked Reading
This strategy is used when students need extra practice reading words in a sentence automatically. This also builds their memory due to the multiple repetitions.
If you see these in your child's reading folder, please practice reading each line in order to build automaticity and fluency in reading sentences.
November Reading Challenge:
How many of these reading challenges you can complete in November as a family?
- 1. Did you know that November is Picture Book Month? To celebrate, read a picture book you’ve never read before!
- 2. Read a book about a family. Then talk to your family about how the book’s family is similar to and different from your own family.
- 3. Get in the spirit of World Kindness Day, November 13! Share a memory of when someone was kind to you. Then read a book about kindness and compassion.
- 4.Don’t let the cooler weather keep you from exploring the world! Read snuggled up in a blanket!
