Warren School Weekly Update

May 14, 2026
This was a very exciting week at Warren School, with many of our Literacy Night raffle events taking place. It has been wonderful seeing students enjoying these special experiences and celebrating together as a community.
I also want to share that second graders Mia Rivera and Keerthana Sivakumar from Mrs. Freeman’s class were honored this past weekend, May 8th, as the 2nd and 3rd place Massachusetts Grade 2 winners of the Eversource Challenge. Their posters highlighted creative ways to conserve energy at home and were recognized and celebrated at the state level. Congratulations to both students on this outstanding accomplishment!
Thank you to all of the families who attended last night’s Warren School Art Show. A special thank you to Mrs. Colella and her many volunteers for creating such an amazing display of student artwork. I continue to be amazed by the beautiful pieces that have filled our red hallway and showcased the creativity of our students. Please take a moment to view this video highlighting the artwork and event: ( https://youtu.be/9LamnmAZVdM?si=XpNi-ObTk1-6ySef).
Grade 2 students have an opportunity to participate in a new event at Warren School. Next Thursday afternoon, our staff will be hosting a Kids Day Out, similar to the Kids Night Out program at the Mindess School. For more information, please see the flyer below.
We are also looking for volunteers to support Warren School at Dairy Queen on Thursday, May 28. Sign up with the button below.
Have a great weekend,
Pete

Growing Strong, Thoughtful Readers This Spring 🌱
What’s Happening in Class
This month, students are learning that good readers don’t just read the words—they think while they read.
Across all grade levels, children are practicing how to stop and ask themselves:
Does this make sense?
What might happen next?
Why did that happen?
“Stop and think strategy”
Readers are learning to pause while reading and check their understanding. These small thinking moments help students better understand and enjoy what they read.
They might:
Reread when something doesn’t make sense
Make a prediction about what will happen next
Talk about what a character is thinking or feeling
Try This Tonight: While your child is reading, pause and ask: What are you thinking right now?” Encourage them to share their ideas—even if they’re not sure yet!
Warm regards,
Kathy Ferrecchia

- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Do your part to help reduce pollution and water usage.
- Volunteer or donate to a local charity or organization.
- Participate in town cleanup!
- Talk to your child about what you love about your community. Talk about ways you could help improve it even more!
