What is Executive Functioning? What is Executive Functioning?

One of our school goals this year is to help all students strengthen their executive functioning skills, which are the skills that help children manage their emotions, stay organized, solve problems, follow through on tasks, and become more independent learners.

Throughout the year, we will intentionally teach and reinforce these skills at school. Because children develop these skills best when school and home work together, we will also share monthly tips and strategies that families can use to support them at home.

As you look at the Executive Functioning Wheel below, you'll see the many skills that help children succeed both in and out of the classroom. We look forward to partnering with you in helping our students build these important lifelong skills!
