Profile of a Viking: Senior Brizil Stewart
We're back with this week's Profile of a Viking, featuring Brizil Stewart (Class of 2024) discussing Diversity & Inclusion. The Senior has a passion for hair styling, and her after-school business is teaching her a lot about interacting with different types of people. "I'm actually able to meet more people that I'm not used to meeting, which is actually helpful to expand business," she says. "Diversity and inclusion is important anywhere you go...It helps bring people together; it helps get rid of that uncomfortable feeling of 'I'm alone' or not being able to be accepted by society." Check out the new episode here.
October is National Principals Month!
Did you know October is #NationalPrincipalsMonth? We're recognizing our principals that work tirelessly to ensure the safety, wellbeing and success of our students. Next time you see them in the halls or around campus, be sure to say hello and thank them for all they do!

40+ Students Attend Young Men's Enrichment Summit
Associate Principal Swilley alongside Science Teacher Mr. Evan Roberts and Social Worker Mr. Heithon Hurdle welcomed Marcus Strother to host our first-ever Young Men's Enrichment Summit on Friday. Over 40 male students spent the day in activities and conversations built from Mr. Strother's organization Mentor California. Students were encouraged to be open and supportive of one another as they held conversation on topics from family life, to trusting others, emotional maturity and more.
“It is the most powerful gesture of support when a school district and the educators in that district make intentional investments in the young men they serve," Mr. Strother said. "It is my absolute pleasure to be a part of the team making sure the young men at HF understand the importance of mentoring, mental wellness, academic progress and social justice. This is only the beginning. Love will continue to lead this work!” Learn more about Mr. Strother's work here.

More Good News from HF's Choir
Earlier this month, Choir hosted their fall concert which featured all six of its vocal ensembles: Treble Choir, Treble Ensemble, Concert Choir, Viking Ensemble, Inspirational Voices, and Viking Choir. Thank you to the nearly 600 of you that came out on a Sunday to support!
Choir students also got the chance to attend the SWSC Choral Festival at Stagg High School.
