Our Learning Community...

A giant thank you to our PTA, Room Parents and Families, you truly made Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week feel like something out of this world! It felt like we were in our own Star Wars story of hope, teamwork, and the Force working at its strongest.

Your generosity and care were felt in every corner of campus. From treats delivered to our staff meeting, to a lounge that was stocked daily with snacks, fruit, and drinks... you kept our “Jedi Council” fueled and ready for the work of teaching and learning. A thoughtfully planned luncheon at Maggie’s Café brought us together in celebration, while creative posters on doors reminded us daily that we are seen and valued. Notes, cards, and student artwork carried powerful messages of appreciation that will be treasured long after this week. And the flowers, plants, and gifts felt like bright lightsabers of kindness across campus.

This year’s “May the 4th” Star Wars theme made it even more fun, reminding us that even in the busiest parts of the school year, the Force of community is strong here. And what timing it was! May is one of the busiest times in education as we work to bring the school year to a strong close, finishing curriculum, supporting state testing, completing report cards and portfolios, and preparing for end-of-year celebrations and special events. Your appreciation arrived exactly when our team needed it most, giving us energy and encouragement as we navigate these final weeks.

We are deeply grateful for the way you show up for our staff. We are so lucky to work in such a loving and caring community. Thank you for the creativity and the Force of kindness you brought to our team last week!

We want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the many caring adults who nurture, guide, and support our students every day! To all mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster parents, caregivers, aunties, and mentors... thank you!

We also recognize that this day can carry a range of emotions for many. We honor all family experiences and hold space for those who may be remembering, missing, or navigating this day in a different way.

We are grateful for the village it takes to raise and support children and we appreciate the many ways you contribute to helping our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Wishing you a warm, restful, and meaningful Mother’s Day weekend.

Love,

The Jones Team

Our team spent time sharing student portfolios. These portfolios are an important part of our Leader in Me work, giving students a meaningful way to take ownership of their learning and growth.

Did you know that just 15 minutes of reading each day can make a world of difference in your child’s learning journey? Whether you are reading to your child, reading together, or listening to them read aloud, it all counts and it all matters!

Reading at home builds more than just literacy skills. It strengthens vocabulary, improves comprehension, and develops a lifelong love of learning. In fact, children who are read to daily are exposed to 1.4 million more words by the time they start school than children who are not. That kind of language exposure lays a strong foundation for both academic success and confident communication.

Just as importantly, books also help children grow socially by allowing them to step into other people’s experiences, see the world from different perspectives and practice empathy and kindness. Stories have the power to spark cultural awareness, build understanding and nurture the skills that help our students become not only successful learners, but also compassionate human beings.

Here are a few ways to make reading a special part of your routine:

  • Choose a cozy time and space to read together

  • Let your child pick the book (even if it’s the same one again!)

  • Ask questions about the story to boost comprehension

  • Model a love for reading by enjoying your own book nearby

The best part, your family has access to an endless amount of books through the internet and the Public Library. Looking for something new to read? Check out the links below for inspiration...
