It has been brought to our attention that students are being dropped off in other places outside of car rider lines. I know the line is long, but for the safety of all parties, please ONLY utilize the car rider line. Dropping students off in the teacher parking lot is an accident waiting to happen.
A note from Mr. Nix
Dear Parent or Guardian;
Field trips and special events/activities (Olympics, mini-Olympics, etc.) are a privilege that we want to provide for all students in our school. It is imperative that our students exhibit excellent behavior when representing Woodstock Middle School and the Cherokee County School District. There are occasions when some studentsā behavior and attendance does not reflect acceptable standards. To achieve school wide consistency regarding types of behavior that could exclude a student from participating in a field trip or special events, the following guidelines have been set by the school and distributed in August.
1. Students assigned 6 or more days of ISS during a school year may not be allowed to attend school field trips or special events for the remainder of the year.
2. Students assigned OSS during a school year may not be allowed to attend school field trips or special events for the remainder of the year.
3. After violating any State or Police Reportable infraction (as defined in the CCSD Discipline Code), a student will not be allowed to attend school field trips or special events for the remainder of the year.
4. Students having more than seven unexcused absences or seven unexcused tardies and/or early check-outs may not be allowed to attend school field trips or special events for the remainder of the year.
5. Other discipline problems could result in denial of field trip or special event participation as determined by the school administration.
6. Outstanding cafeteria or media center fines will also disqualify students from participating in special events.

Update Your Emergency Contacts and Other Information in ParentVUE
As the school year gets underway, it's important to make sure your child's information is up to date in our student database. Accurate phone numbers and email addresses make sure you get timely alerts and notifications so CCSD can reach you quickly with weather closures, alerts, or emergency information. You can also update your child's medical forms and add or change emergency contacts for your child.
If you have not yet taken care of this important back-to-school task, you can use the ParentVUE website or download the app to do this. After logging in, choose Online Registration; next, choose Student Information Update. As you navigate through the forms, please make any needed updates, and then click Submit to finish. If you need help using ParentVUE, please email enrollment.support@cherokee.incidentiq.com.
To receive emergency notification text messages at the cell phone numbers the school has on file for you, parents must opt-in by texting the word SUBSCRIBE to the number 68453.
Partnering for a Successful Year
These guidelines are designed to create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students.
Why It Matters: When students are aware of expectationsāfrom arrival and dismissal procedures to classroom behavior and emergency drillsāthey feel more confident, secure, and ready to learn.
How You Can Help:
- Talk with your child about the importance of following rules and respecting teachers and classmates.
- Review key protocols such as attendance, technology use, and safety procedures.
- Encourage open communication so your child feels comfortable asking questions or expressing concerns. Our Admin team met with each grade level this week to review expectations and to discuss the seriousness of any threats that could harm our community.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Field trips and special events/activities (Olympics, mini-Olympics, etc.) are a privilege that we want to provide for all students in our school. It is imperative that our students exhibit excellent behavior when representing Woodstock Middle School and the Cherokee County School District. There are occasions when some studentsā behavior and attendance does not reflect acceptable standards. 5. Other discipline problems could result in denial of field trip or special event participation as determined by the school administration.
More important information on Attendance :
CCSD has implemented a new policy for attendance this school year. In order to accommodate the number of students here at WMS, we have created a new email address to be used exclusively for attendance purposes. (WMS.attendance@cherokeek12.net)
There are three ways to communicate an absence, parentsquare, hardcopy notes, and/or email. Hopefully, this will make it easier for our parents to communicate to our staff more effectively.
**Excused Absences:
As permitted under state law and State Board of Education policies, students may be excused lawfully for the following reasons: personal illness, serious illness or death in the family, special and recognized religious holidays observed by oneās faith, absence as mandated by order of governmental agencies, conditions rendering school attendance impossible or hazardous to oneās health or safety and registering to vote or voting, (for a period not to exceed one day). Additionally, any student whose parent or guardian is in the U.S. Armed Forces/National Guard and said parent or guardian has been called to duty for, or is on leave from, an overseas deployment to a combat zone or combat support posting, shall be granted up to five excused absences per school year, for the day(s) missed from school to visit with the parent or legal guardian prior to such deployment or during such leave. Finally, high school Principals are authorized to excuse absences by students who are visiting a prospective college campus as visiting Juniors or graduating Seniors (limit two days).
**Requirements/Time Limits for Student Excuses:
Excuses for student absences will be furnished to the school in writing on the day the student returns to school and will be evaluated by the Principal or a designee to determine if the absence is excused or unexcused. Excuses should contain the studentās name, reason for absence, date(s) of the absence and the parentās/guardianās signature.
**For purposes of accurate record-keeping and student accountability, excuses for all absences must be received and validated within five school days of the studentās return to school-excuses received after that time limit will not be considered unless the Principal deems extenuating circumstances exist.
