Glenwood
This Week's Scouting Report
Thursday September 11, 2025
Speaking of practice, we held some important drills this week. On Tuesday, our Safety Committee met and executed an Evacuation Drill. During this time, all classes move outside where adults take attendance and ensure everyone is accounted for. Today we held our Bus Evacuation Drills when students arrived. It is important to hold these safety measures regularly, so all students and staff are aware of expectations and procedures should we have any type of emergency. We appreciate everyone's cooperation, our students did a great job this week listening to instructions and following adult's directions.
Remember, our Back to School Nights will be held Monday & Tuesday, September 15th and 16th. We look forward to seeing parents and guardians next week. Note: This is not a time for specific conversations regarding your student. You will have time to discuss your student's progress during Parent/Teacher Conferences in November. As always, please reach out to your child's teacher with any concerns or questions.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Christa Consadene cconsadene@rtmsd.org.
Back to School Nights
Monday September 15th (K-2)
Tuesday September 16th (3-5)
We will follow this schedule for both evenings:
6:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.: Classroom Presentation
7:05 p.m. - 7:35 p.m.: Repeat Classroom Presentation
Parents and guardians are invited to meet with your child's teacher during one of the classroom presentation times as they review curriculum, introduce families to the classroom structure and procedures, and provide an overview of the year. We offer two sessions of the classroom presentation so you may attend a time that works best for you. This allows those with multiple students to visit both classrooms. This is an adult-only event, no students or younger siblings.

Fall Benchmark Assessments:
Rose Tree Media students in grades K through 5 will once again participate in fall growth assessments this month. These tests help to determine your child’s instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year. They provide teachers with additional information on student progress toward proficiency and mastery of basic skills. The test scores let teachers know where a student’s strengths are and if support might be needed in any specific area. Teachers use this information to help guide individual and group instruction in the classroom. As well, to promote student achievement in all our schools, the district uses these results to continue to improve teaching and learning. These assessments will be administered by members of the MTSS team in each elementary school as part of the regularly scheduled instructional day.
Throughout the month of September, the following assessments will be administered across various grade levels:
Kindergarten – 5th Grade
DIBELS 8 (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills--A series of short (one-minute) assessments to measure essential early literacy skills.
Kindergarten – 1st Grade
Acadience Math--A math assessment designed to measure the development of early numeracy skills.
2nd – 5th Grade
MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Testing--A computerized, adaptive test that measures academic growth in reading and math.
Testing Dates:
ELA- Tuesday, September 16
Math- Thursday, September 18

School Bus Safety
This morning our Transportation Department held Bus Evacuation Drills. All students riding the bus this morning "practiced" with their driver how to safely exit the bus in an emergency.
Later in the day we practiced our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) on the bus. Each grade level had a time slot where they boarded the buses with their class, then they held discussions and explained expectations while students were ON the bus with their teachers, Mrs. Squires, Mrs. Consadene, and Mr. Harrison.

VOLUNTEER CLEARANCES
All guests and volunteers (including Homeroom parents) must have their clearances on file with the district. Click here: OBTAINING CLEARANCES FOR VOLUNTEERS & CHAPERONES
Once you have obtained all THREE portions of the clearances, we must verify them at school. We must see the ORIGINAL FBI clearance (printed with a light blue background and it will be USPS <snail> MAILED to you - - we cannot accept the email!). You can bring all three portions with you during our Open House, send them in with your student (we will make a copy and send them back home), or stop by the office. Please only send in when all THREE have been completed, our HR Department will not accept them separately. You will receive email verification once we have received all three copies and you have been confirmed as a volunteer.
Clearances are valid for FIVE (5) years, if you are unsure your expiration, email Coleen Fickes: cfickes@rtmsd.org.
