A Romantic Twist on Biology

In celebration of "Hearts" Day, a romantic twist was added to biology class! Students translated specific codons and amino acids to uncover the appearance of their "codon crush," blending science with fun. The classroom had a cozy vibe as students explored genetics in a creative way. To top it off, students crafted heart-shaped artworks using recycled materials, combining love for the environment with artistic expression. It was a perfect fusion of biology and creativity, celebrating both love and learning!

Healthy Snacks = Happy Students

National FCCLA Week was celebrated this past week at SHS. Club members worked together to promote leadership skills, build community, and encourage healthy choices with a number of activities including a dress up day, Shirley Temple sales, and fresh fruit snacks for students. Mrs. Lehrke's Culinary classes teamed up with the club to help prepare the fruit. Pictured above are Mason and Blake chopping berries, while Migizii and Destyn prep fruit cups at right.

Anyone interested in learning more about FCCLA and what they do should contact club officers Hannah Gibson, Ruby Rice, Kate Meyer, or advisors Mrs. Lehrke or Ms. Prendergast for more information.

District FFA Members Give Back During FFA Week

Beth Meyer, District I FFA Officer, is helping to promote the district's food drive campaign at SHS. The food drive, happening next week in conjunction with FFA Week , is a great way for students to give back to their communities. As an added treat, students who bring three or more items to the food drive will earn a free ice cream or slushie on Friday as they celebrate FFA Week.
All items can be brought to Mrs. Schaefer's Ag classroom starting Tuesday.
