On April 17th, MRHS hosted its annual Multicultural Fair!! Over 20 countries were celebrated! For so many of our students and staff, this is the best day of the school year! Many thanks to Mimi van der Burg and the Diversity Club for organizing the event; many thanks to Ryanna Caivano and her fabulous custodial staff for all their help, and many thanks to Principal Jen Police and our faculty and staff for their support.
Oak Street takes part in MRHS Multicultural Fair
Schönen Freitag!!!! Oak Street was busy last week getting ready for the Multicultural Fair. We were lucky enough to have Mr. Dadmun's wife, Lisa, here to assist with all the artistry and German recipes. Our German table featured Spundekäs - a savory cheese dip with pretzels; and Plätzchen - a traditional German cookie. We could not have done it without the assistance of Jayden Merriam, who spent hours rolling out the dough and cutting the cookies. Interesting tidbit about Jayden; he loves to cook!!! We are also attaching a throwback from Jonah’s Birthday. Schönes Wochenende!!!!!
Wellness Fair 2026
Students studying Spanish
Las Molas
Students in Mrs. Carey's Spanish 2 class are studying clothing and shopping traditions in Spanish speaking countries. Through the study they spent time working on Molas. Molas are hand stitched textiles that women in Panama use for traditional clothing and decorative art. Molas were introduced by the indigenous women (Kuna) from Panama. Students used paper and layered style to create their original pieces.
Para Mantener La Salud
Spanish 1 students are studying "Para Mantener La Salud" ways to maintain health. They used the opportunity to show off the language they are studying by supporting the Wellness Fair with visuals to demonstrate and describe, in Spanish, ways they stay healthy. Posters ranged from healthy food choices, diet and exercise, to mental and emotional health.

Attendance Matters - in every class!
MRHS students are marked present or absent for each class. Students who exceed 10% absence in classes are at risk for losing credit in that class. For example, students may lose credit if they have:
- 5 absences in a term course
- 9 absences in a semester course
- 18 absences in a full-year course
- By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th-grade test scores
- Chronically absent high school students had an average GPA of 2.8 vs. non-chronically absent classmates who had an average GPA of 3.5
- When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating
