- Share it on social media and tag Pitt County Schools so we can celebrate together.
Let’s fill our community with school spirit and show how much We Love Our Schools!
Pitt County Schools Summer Leadership 2025
Leaders from across Pitt County Schools came together for an inspiring Summer Leadership Conference; an energizing time to reflect, connect, and reignite our shared mission. Grounded in purpose and fueled by passion, our administrators, educators, and district leaders explored innovative strategies to ensure every student, every classroom, every day continues to thrive.
Together, we are charting the course for a new school year; one where leadership is courageous, collaboration is intentional, and excellence is the standard.
Here’s to leading with heart, lifting others, and building a brighter future for all PCS students!
Read to Achieve Summer Reading Camp
Our Summer Reading Camp had an amazing experience thanks to Books on Break!
United Way of Pitt County’s Early Grades Student Success Academy, in partnership with Pitt County Schools, gave every rising first grader the chance to choose TEN FREE books to take home! The Books on Break team visited all 10 of our summer sites, and the smiles said it all!
A huge THANK YOU to the dedicated teachers, site coordinators, and program leaders who made this magical moment possible. You're helping our students fall in love with reading one book at a time!
Summer Feeding Program
Meet Ray F. Sun — the fun and friendly mascot of the NC Summer Nutrition Programs! (The “F” stands for Food, Fitness, Fun, and Farm to Summer!) Ray’s job is to help spread the word about free summer meals for all kids and teens across North Carolina.
Ray made a special stop at Lakeforest Elementary for lunch! Students had a blast dancing with Ray and enjoying summer feeding activities brought by the NC Summer Nutrition team. This event was part of the Pitt County Schools Nutrition Services Summer Meals Program, which works hard to make sure children 18 and under have access to healthy, nutritious meals even when school is out.
2025 Tech Fest
Our teachers kicked off the school year by diving into hands-on sessions, learning new tools, and collaborating on tech-driven strategies for student success. Thank you for starting strong and leading the way!

New Hire Orientation
We had the privilege of welcoming our newest employees into the Pitt County Schools family!
We kicked off the morning with energy, laughter, and plenty of smiles. New hires got to meet leaders and sponsors who are "all hands on deck" for education. From navigating payroll to benefits, tech systems, and safety procedures, our HR and support teams guided new staff through everything they need to thrive—no confusion, just confidence. Whether diving into classroom tech, orientation toolkits or mentorship programs, new team members left with tangible tools and strategies to support them on Day One and beyond.
The day wrapped with hopeful introductions to support networks and district-wide resources to help every new educator and staff member shine!

In accordance with North Carolina state law (Session Law 2023-128), all public schools are required to show age-appropriate videos created by the NC Center for Safer Schools to students in grades 6–12 within the first five days of the school year.
These videos provide information on recognizing likely warning signs that a child may be a victim of abuse or neglect, including age-appropriate guidance on sexual abuse prevention. This is a state requirement for all North Carolina public schools, not a Pitt County Schools initiative.
