β PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE β
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to our Week 7 newsletter.
The last few weeks have been very productive at Regents Park Public School. While our teachers are finalising individual student reports, all of our scheduled learning activities and programs continue to run as usual. This has meant that it has been a very busy time.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
It is extremely important that all parents and carers attend a parent-teacher interview at the end of this term. Please make sure you book an appointment time so you can discuss your childβs progress for the semester.
Instructional Rounds
This week, our school hosted Instructional Roundsβa rigorous professional learning process involving our local network of schools: Chullora, Punchbowl, Birrong, and Auburn Public Schools. Over two days, teaching staff, Assistant Principals, and Principals from these schools visited our classrooms to observe lessons with a focus on one key area of teaching and learning. The information gathered will help guide our executive team in planning targeted professional learning for our staff. The visiting educators were impressed with many aspects of our school, particularly the high-quality teaching evident across all classrooms.
Public Speaking Competition
Last week, we held our whole school public speaking competition. During the finals, students from each stage presented both a prepared speech and an impromptu speech. Congratulations to the winners from each stage who will now represent Regents Park Public School at the combined school final next week. A big thank you to Mrs Petrella for all her hard work in organising and supporting the competition.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please donβt hesitate to come and see me.
Warm regards,
Jodie Landon
Principal
π State Library Excursion π
An Adventure in Literacy
Our K-2 students had an amazing time visiting the vibrant heart of the city for an unforgettable excursion to the State Library! As part of the engaging βExplore Program,β students were introduced to the incredible explorer Matthew Flinders and his cheeky cat Trim, sparking wonder and excitement. With wide-eyed curiosity, students hunted through secret spots in the library, viewed fascinating artefacts and listened to a delightful original story. Their enthusiasm was contagious as they worked together to create a colourful big book to bring back to school. This hands-on, joyful experience enriched their love of reading and gave them the unique chance to learn alongside passionate experts. A big thank you to parents and staff for supporting such a brilliant opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom!

Placing in such a competitive field is a fantastic accomplishment, and we are so proud of the effort and commitment Ahmed demonstrated. Well done, Ahmed! πββοΈππ
π Refugee Week - Week 8 π
π Refugee Week 2025 β Community as a Superpower π
Refugee Week is a time to raise awareness about the experiences of refugees and to celebrate the strength, resilience, and valuable contributions they bring to our communities. This yearβs theme, βCommunity as a Superpower,β reminds us of the strength we have when we stand together.
β€οΈ To show our support, Regents Park Public School will be holding a Red Mufti Day on Wednesday 18 June 2025.
Students are invited to wear red and bring a gold coin donation.
All funds raised will go towards purchasing important school resources.
Letβs come together in red and show the power of a united and caring school community! πͺβ¨
π Public Speaking π
Multicultural Public Speaking CompetitionΒ School Final
This term students from K-6 have been preparing for the Multicultural Public Speaking Competition. They have been learning about public speaking and the Manner, Matter and Method that can be used to ensure for an effective presentation of a speech.
In week 6, the school final for the Multicultural Public Speaking Competition was held for all stages. Two students from each class were chosen to participate in the final based on the success of their prepared speeches. On the day the students presented both their prepared speech and an impromptu speech which they only had five minutes to prepare. Mrs Arevalo and Mrs Brutovska were the adjudicators who had a very hard job in choosing two winners from each stage. The speeches delivered were well written, thoughtful, powerful and engaging to the audience, reflecting their understanding and appreciation of Australia's rich cultural diversity. Students displayed much confidence when presenting the speeches. They were very impressive!
Congratulations to all students who participated! The following students were the winners of their stage finals. Stage 2 and Stage 3 winners will now represent our school in the Regional Final held at a local public school in Week 9. Good luck to these students!

π€ RESPECT Program π€
π RESPECT Program Video Launch! π
Throughout 2024, a dedicated group of our Year 5 students participated in this inspiring program facilitated by Outloud. The focus was on building respect, empathy, and preventing violence against women and girls β all through the power of songwriting and music.
Over several weeks, the boys worked collaboratively to create and perform their very own original song, which was launched and shared across classrooms. We are incredibly proud of their effort, growth, and the leadership theyβve shown. ππΆ

π‘ K Mauve in the Spotlight π‘
K Mauve are making History π¦πΊπ
Students in K Mauve continue to explore the past, focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoplesβ connection to Country.
This week we viewed Dreamtime stories and discussed why they are important and how they teach us about Country and the past.
Students then made finger puppets of Australian animals and created their own stories to share with their peers.
This fostered language and imagination.
Keep on dreaming! π¦π¨π¦πΊ
Last week we discussed the difference between an Acknowledgment of Country and a Welcome to Country.
We worked together to create our own Acknowledgment of Country which we have been saying everyday since then.
Always was, always will be. π€πβ€οΈ

π Stage 3 Sport π
During sport lessons this term, our Year 5 and 6 students have been learning to play Oztag β and itβs been a fantastic experience! Through the game, students have developed key skills such as teamwork, spatial awareness, agility, and strategic thinking. Theyβve also gained confidence in passing, tagging, and movement on the field. Most importantly, all students have enjoyed learning this fast-paced, inclusive sport and have embraced the opportunity to try something new. Itβs been great to see their enthusiasm and sportsmanship shine each week!

Students collaborated to solve problems, explained their thinking, and participated in deep mathematical discussions. It was wonderful to see such teamwork, persistence, and enthusiasm on display, what amazing mathematicians we have in our classroom!

Weβre thrilled to share how well our Breakfast Club has been going at Regents Park Public School! Since launching the initiative, itβs been a fantastic success β with students enjoying a healthy start to their day in a warm and welcoming environment.
Breakfast Club has quickly become a positive part of our school mornings, providing students with nutritious food to fuel their bodies and minds for a full day of learning. Itβs also a great opportunity for students to connect with friends and teachers before the bell rings, setting the tone for a calm and focused school day.
Participation remains by invitation only to ensure we support students with dietary needs and maintain a safe, inclusive environment. Thank you to our staff and families for your ongoing support β weβre already seeing the benefits in the classroom!
