Congrats Mr. Lukic!
Last week — and every week — we celebrated National Assistant Principals Week and all the incredible work our assistant principal does to support students, families, and staff!
This year, the celebration was even more special as we congratulated Mr. Lukic and his family on the arrival of their newest addition! Baby Axel Lukic was born on April 10th, joining his proud big brother and making this week one to truly remember. 💙👶
Please join us in celebrating our amazing assistant principal and sending warm wishes to the Lukic family!
Plastic-Free Lunch Day - Monday, April 14th
On April 14th, CPS will join schools across the country to serve lunch without plastic! School cafeterias serve over 7 billion meals per year, and one day going plastic-free can make a huge impact. CPS schools whose food service is managed by Aramark will serve only handheld items, eliminating single-used plastic as much as possible. Resources to support Plastic Free Lunch Day in your school community can be found HERE.
Health Exam Requirements - Deadline Approaching
The health and safety of our students is always our top priority. This email is a reminder of the dental exam requirements for certain grade levels.
All kindergarten, 2nd grade, 6th grade, and 9th grade students must have a dental exam completed by a licensed dentist before May 15th of the school year. In partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), CPS offers on-site, preventative dental services at no cost to ALL Pre-K-12th grade students. The CPS Office of Student Health and Wellness (OSHW) assigns a dentist to most schools, or schools can request a dentist to come to the school. View the dental services and requirement letter for more information and dental resources. Additional resources include low-cost/no-cost dental care for students.
If students have a private dentist, parents must return the completed Proof of Dental Examination Form from their dentist's office to the school by May 1, 2025, to allow enough time for the school or OSHW to enter the student information into the ASPEN data system.
All the services OSHW offers are outlined at cps.edu/oshw. If families need help enrolling their child in health insurance, they can call the Healthy CPS Hotline at 773 553-KIDS (5437) or visit cps.edu/cfbu.
